Part 1 - Surprise Attack. Enver Pasha, minister of war for the Ottoman Empire, agrees to a secret alliance with Germany in August 1914. Istanbul mobilizes its army but remains neutral for nearly three months. Eager for a fight against Russia, Enver orders the Turkish Black Sea Fleet to bombard Russian seaports on October 29th. The Triple Entente -- France, Russia and Great Britain -- reacts swiftly and declares war against the Turks within a week.

October 30, 2008) Riding high this summer, three oil-producing nations sharing a disdain for the U.S. used their petro-dollars to fund policies not in the super-power's playbook. However, with the abrupt change of worldwide, economic fortunes, oil states now have headaches of their own. Venezuela's Chavez, who blustered and spread the wealth, has become more contrite as oil income shrinks; Iran spent alot on crowd pleasing measures that did not manage to throw off the dead weight of sanctions. For now, only Russia seems able to have it both ways, pushing against the U.S. when oil was expensive, and now that it is cheap, cutting a deal with China that could change the game for everyone.

At at noon press conference, on May 24, 2007, at the Cannon Terrace, on Capitol Hill, Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH), ripped into the Bush-Cheney Gang's legislative scheme to privatize the oil of Occupied Iraq. He charged: "Privatizing Iraq's oil is theft." He also called the Iraq Supplemental Bill: "a moment of truth for the Democratic Party." Rep. Kucinich explained how the proposed Bill, now pending before the U.S. Congress, via its benchmarks, will provide for the privatization of Iraqi oil. It requires the regime in Iraq to pass a law called, "The Hydrocarbon Act." If they refuse to do so over a billion dollars in reconstruction funds will be blocked by the Bush-Cheney administration, he claimed. This measure, which Rep. TARGET IRAN--THE USA CONSIDERS WAR
Iran denominates its oil sales in euros instead of dollars, which means they could flood the market with cheap oil which the US can neither buy (the Federal Reserve doesn't print euros) nor compete with. While there are other reasons for conflict, such as Iran's proposed oil pipeline to India and beyond, this has created an economic vulnerability in the US. Similar circumstances actually forced us to invade Iraq while the public was told the war was about WMDs.

Think about how amazing this is. McCain is essentially saying that our quest to "spread democracy" throughout the Middle East is a sham. It has nothing to do with freeing oppressed people, or protecting Israel, or defending ourselves against future attacks. It's about gaining control of foreign oil. Stunning. Will this get any significant media play?
