A report on CNN about indian missile technology. India declared its Agni 1 and 2(it's primary nuclear deterent) reliable on the basis of just 3 tests. In contrast its neighbour, Pakistan, carried out over 300 tests on it's missiles. India has been buying Israeli
missiles because the concerns of its generals.

India's Akash SAM Missile
Akash is a medium range surface-to-air missile developed as part of India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Program to achieve self-sufficiency in the area of surface-to-air missiles.
Akash is a medium-range surface-to-air missile with an intercept range of 30 km. It has a launch weight of 720 kg, a diameter of 35 cm and a length of 5.8 meters. Akash flies at supersonic speed, reaching around Mach 2.5.
It can reach an altitude of 18 km. A digital proximity fuse is coupled with a 55 kg pre-fragmented warhead, while the safety arming and detonation mechanism enables a controlled detonation sequence. A self-destruct device is also integrated.

India successfully test fired 'Shaurya', a medium-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile, to be used by its Army.

India to test Interceptor missile
Preparations for the trial of India's Interceptor missile development programme have reached its final stage. India will conduct its second test of Interceptor missile today.Two missiles will be involved in the exercise. One will be used as the target, the other as the interceptor missile. The target missile is a modified version of India's Prithvi ballistic missile.

The MoU is aimed at giving India the state of the art technology that will allow it to intercept any threat from ballistic missiles. In the cold war era Russian and Americans were in a state of conflict, tension and competition.
