The Latin American left (Brazil, Argentina, Chile) is mostly talk. They have paid their bills and followed market policies. Ecuador (whose currency is the U.S. Dollar) and Bolivia are mostly fighting the state owned Brazilian oil company (OXY left Ecuador and files suit). Ecuador’s and Bolivia’s Presidents may not last two more years. Hugo Chaves is little more than a clown and traditional South American Caudillo. He is dangerous mostly to his own people and to himself when oil prices inevitably fall. I would not give you a dime for the Cuban Communist Party when Castro stops breathing. Although it may be similar to 1913 in that the major industrial powers may kill 60 million people in the next few years, however, this time none of them will be in Europe.
