What would Genghis Khan Do?

Posted by Matt in January 3rd, 2007

Genghis Khan recognized that victory came by conquering people, not land or cities.

In contrast to the Americans in 2003, who sought to take the largest cities first in a campaign of shock and awe, the Mongols in 1258 took the smallest settlements first, gradually working toward the capital. Both the Mongols and the Americans used heavy bombardment to topple Baghdad, but whereas the Americans rushed into the capital in a triumphant victory celebration, the Mongols wisely decided not to enter the defeated — but still dangerous — city. They ordered the residents to evacuate, and then they sent in Christian and Muslim allies, who seethed with a variety of resentments against the caliph, to expunge pockets of resistance and secure the capital. The Americans ended up as occupiers; the Mongols pulled strings, watching from camps in the countryside.

Shermans tanks at world War II 2/5
The M4 Sherman was the primary tank produced by the United States for its own use and the use of its Allies during World War II. Production of the M4 Medium tank exceeded 50,000 units, and its chassis served as the basis for numerous other armored vehicles such as tank destroyers, tank retrievers and self-propelled artillery. In the United Kingdom, the M4 was dubbed the Sherman after Union General William Tecumseh Sherman, following the British practice of naming its American-built tanks after famous American Civil War generals. (The British had dubbed versions of the predecessor M3 tank the Lee and the Grant.) Subsequently the British name found its way into common use in the US. Following WWII, the M4 medium tank was used by the US until the end of the Korean War. Many nations...

Dr Strangelove - "The War Room"
General "Buck" Turgidson tells President Merkin Muffley (Peter Sellers) exactly why an insane Air Force General was able to launch an unretrieval nucluer attack on the Soviet Union, and still has time to assure his girlfriend that their relationship isn't just physical and he intends to marry her. Stanley Krubrick's 1964 Black Comedy masterpiece. A tour de force for Sellers in three rolls. Originally scheduled to also play the role of pilot T.J. "King" Kong, but an ankle injury forced him out and thankfully we got Slim Pickens. In this scene Seller plays an American President faced with the unthinkable, a character modeled after failed Presidential candidate the celebral Adalai Stevenson.

Delarey - Boer War
This is for the pride of the Afrikaaner Nation. General De la Rey was a Boer General in South Africa who led his brave boers in battle against the invading British Empire. The odds were staggering 80 000 boers to 350 000 british Soldiers. The Boers held out to the bitter end. The British held thousands of Boer women and children in the first ever concentration camps. The British forced the Boers to surrender as they starved their women and children - only for the Boers to return to their torched farms without many of their murdered family. A Salute to the men who fought for my right to be here in South Africa today. "Ons Vir Jou Suid Africa"

The Shield - Shane Vendrell
This is a comp of Shane based on his wiki entry... Shane has behaved in a racist manner throughout the show as he has used derogatory comments like "nigger," "darkie," "wetback," and "beaner" multiple times. Shane also drove away a potential protégé of Vic named Tavon Garris due to their personal differences. Furthermore, Shane displays racism towards African-Americans through his mobile ring tone Dixie, a blackface minstrel song and unofficial anthem of the Confederacy; he also named his son Jackson after Confederate Civil War General Stonewall Jackson. Shane has, however, had very friendly relationships with several minority officers, as well as a sexual relationship with a black teenaged girl. In Season 4, Shane was partnered with "Army", a Mexican-American detective and veteran of...

CAUGHT: Pentagon pundits on TV news
CLICK HERE TO TAKE ACTION: http://FreePress.net Tell Congress: Investigate the Propaganda Pundits The New York Times has exposed a secret Pentagon campaign to infiltrate the media with pro-war propaganda. The scheme reaches all the way to the Bush White House, where top officials recruited dozens of "military analysts" to spread favorable views of the war via the news. Many of these propaganda pundits didn't reveal that they were working from Pentagon scripts or lobbying for companies seeking to cash in on major military contracts. This is a violation of every conceivable standard of journalism -- and possibly of federal law. Send a letter to Congress and demand better media: http://FreePress.net
