Tehran, Iran (AHN) – Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards on Wednesday started a two-day air and naval war exercise aimed at testing its latest missile defense capabilities. The war games come on the heel of rising tension between Iran’s Islamic government and the West.
The state television reported the war games were being held in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman were navy and air force of the Revolutionary Guards have deployed its missile units.
It said the naval exercise were codenamed: Raad or Thunder in English translation. The official IRNA news agency the naval war maneuvers were aimed at “enhancing the defensive capabilities” and preserving the readiness of the naval force’s missile unit.
