France warns Iran of disastrous Israeli strike
France's President Nicolas Sarkozy today warned Iran that it is at risk of an Israeli strike if it continues with its controversial nuclear program, which he said is being used to develop nuclear weapons.
Speaking in Damascus, where he met Syria's President Bashar al-Assad, Sarkozy said: "Iran is taking a major risk in continuing its process of obtaining nuclear weapons which we are certain is happening."
The United States and Israel have not taken the military option off the table on dealing with Iran's nuclear program, which they suspect is being used to develop weapons. Iran strongly denies the charge.
But Sarkozy said that an Israeli strike on Iran would be a "catastrophe" that must be avoided

Iran releases captured sailors
Hello. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI headline update on this Wednesday, April 4, 2007.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says he has pardoned the 15 British sailors and marines detained last month and will set them free. That's according to CNN. Admadinejad made the announcement at a news conference where he honored the border guards who captured them. The President honored three of those guards with medals for bravery. In his speech, he said Iran will never allow trespassing of its waters.
U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met with Syria's President today against the wishes of the Bush administration. There are no details about what Pelosi and President Bashar al-Assad talked about. A Syrian government official says it's doubtful that a first meeting of this type reached any expected...

Syria, Iran Meet as Deadline Looms on Nuke Package
(Daily News on http://www.parsnewz.com/blog ) The leaders of Iran and Syria leaders are meeting Saturday in the face of a looming deadline for Iran to halt its nuclear enrichment program and accept an incentives package.
Syria is Iran's closest Arab ally, and Iran's state television has said Syrian President Bashar Assad is expected to discuss Tehran's nuclear ambitions in his meeting with Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Former Syrian Minister: Iran is Entitled to Get Nukes
Someone better tell former Syrian Defense Minister Mustafa Tlas that Bashar al-Assad, his fearless leader, wants to take a more 'nuanced' approach to Iran, at least until he can get Ehud K. Olmert to give him the Golan Heights.
