Women of Hamas - Israel/Palestine
April 2006
Tired of years of endemic corruption, Palestinian women are turning their backs on Fatah and supporting Hamas. But having voted for change, the pressure is now on Hamas to deliver.
When Nahida Sleibi's husband was injured, Hamas was the only organisation who came to her help. "Hamas is able to reach out to women through financial assistance", explains politician Intisar Al-Wazir. It runs a network of schools and hospitals which have a reputation for being efficient and corruption free. But while its social policies won it the female vote, rumours Hamas plans to implement Sharia Law have alienated some women. Others are worried about the financial implications of its rigid foreign policy. As Nuha states: "We're concerned the international community will reject us and things...

Hamas Victory - Israel/Palestine
April 2006
Are we witnessing a new political movement in the Middle East? The pressure is now on Hamas to transform itself into a recognised legitimate government.
"It's like a big political Tsunami hitting the whole region", states Palestinian Dr Iyad Saraj. Ten years of failures have left many despondent with the political process. "Jewish settlements are expanding, corruption is getting worse", despairs former Fatah supporter, Omar Shaker. In comparison to Fatah, Hamas is seen as clean and uncorrupt. Despite its involvement in violence, its elevation to a legitimate, elected political party could be the start of a new direction for the region. As Sharon's former security advisor states: "These gentlemen are serious people. We can have common ground."

Inside Gaza - Israel/Palestine
Oct 2007
With Fatah and Hamas so divided, will the recent peace talks achieve anything? There are warnings Hamas will attempt to disrupt the summit by stepping up rocket attacks.
From a wooded valley in Gaza, Al Aqsa fighters light a rocket fuse. Everyone runs for their lives as the rocket shoots off into Israel. Later, safe in his office, Al Aqsa's commander shows us how he selects targets in Israel. "We obtain details from Google Earth and check them against our maps". For Gaza's residents, life seems to get harder by the day. Supplies are dwindling thanks to an economic blockade. Fatah claims Hamas is turning Gaza into a brutal police state. It has ordered all medical staff to go on strike. But for the sick, denying them medical care is a step too far. As one women laments; "What have...

Farfour "martyred" by Israelis in final episode
This is the last episode of the infamous "Farfour" - Hamas' copycat version of the beloved 1928 Disney creation Mickey Mouse. Farfour has been used to promote a radical Islamic supremacist agenda, and to ferment Jihadist sentiments in Palestinian children.
Farfour first came into international spotlight in May 2007, when Palestinian Media Watch (http://www.pmw.org.il) released a translated video from Al Aqsa TV (a Hamas-owned station) that showed the plagiarised cartoon character. Worldwide condemnation followed over this apparent child indoctrination. Hamas, however, refused to pull Farfour off the air, and immediately broadcasted another episode of Farfour on May 11.
On June 29, 2007, Farfour featured for the last time and was "martyred" by an...

Israeli incursions into Hamas controlled Gaza begin
What a surprise. It seems Israel's "intention" to stay out of the internal conflict didn't even last a couple of days. Not that they haven't been "involved" since the beginning of course. The world cannot be blind to the methods and motives of the U.S. and Israel. How much more of this must we witness?

When Hamas gunmen stormed the Fatah security compounds in Gaza last week they found huge supplies of American-made weaponry including 7,400 M-16 assault rifles, dozens of mounted machine guns, rocket launchers, 7 armored military jeeps, 800,000 rounds of bullets and 18 US-made armored personnel carriers. They also discovered...

JERUSALEM April 18 -- Former president Jimmy Carter followed through on a planned meeting with the exiled leader of Hamas on Friday, despite U.S. and Israeli protests that the session would give legitimacy to a group they consider a terrorist organization. Khaled Meshal, who is accused of masterminding kidnappings and suicide bombings, met with Carter, a Nobel Peace laureate, in Damascus, Syria, where Meshal has lived for nearly a decade. The meeting was one of the most notable exchanges to date between Hamas, which won Palestinian elections in 2006, and a prominent Western political figure. Israel and the United States have consistently opposed any direct contact with...

Israeli Woman Killed after a Palestinian Rocket Attack
An Israeli minister says the Palestinian prime minister could be killed as part of a retaliation campaign against Hamas. Israel could kill Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas as part of a retaliation campaign for rocket attacks by the dominant Islamist group in the Gaza Strip. An Israeli minister made the claim on radio, as Israel and militants exchanged more fire. An Israeli woman was killed after a Palestinian rocket attack on the country's south. (5-22)
