Rather than Owning Up to History, Russia Continues to Live with It

Russia is often said to walk toward the future with its head turned backwards. Russiaâ€™s past is called â€œunpredictable,â€ in the sense that itâ€™s almost always politicized and interpreted differently every time to please the current rulers. And in this context, it seems even sadder that lately the gaze of this backward-looking head has looked more favorably on Stalinism.

	Tunguska Explosion 30 July 1908 At 7:17 AM on the morning of June 30, 1908, a mysterious explosion occurred in the skies over Siberia.
