Chinese Space Weapon, A.S.A.T
Anti-satellite weapon At 5:28 p.m. EST January 11, 2007, the People's Republic of China successfully destroyed a defunct Chinese weather satellite, FY-1C. The destruction was reportedly carried out by a modified medium-range ballistic missile DF-21 with a kinetic ASAT warhead [3] similar in concept to the American Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle. FY-1C was a weather satellite orbiting Earth in polar orbit at an altitude of about 537 miles (865 km), with a mass of about 750 kg (1,650 lb). Launched in 1999, it was the fourth satellite in the Feng Yun series. The missile was lauched from a mobile Transporter-Erector-Launcher (TEL) vehicle at Xichang (28°14′49″N 102°01′30″E / 28.247, 102.025) and the warhead destroyed the satellite in a head-on collision at an extremely high...

Space Race With China?
Before China carried out an anti-satellite test in January 2007, some U.S. policy-makers, including NASA Administrator Michael Griffin and the U.S. House China Working Group, advocated greater cooperation between the United States and China in space. After the test, which created a massive cloud of space debris that angered international space professionals and alarmed the American public, increased references to U.S.-China competition and hints of a new space race drowned out calls for cooperation. Using the experience they gained from visiting China several times in the last eight months, analysts Jeffrey Lewis and Gregory Kulacki will evaluate the costs and benefits of cooperation and competition between the United States and China in light of the history of Chinese interest in ASAT...

China Shenzhou 7 spaceship to be launched in 2008
Shenzhou 7 spaceship will be the third Chinese human spaceflight and is expected to be launched in October 2008 on a Long March-2F (CZ-2F) launch vehicle. The highlights of the mission will be the first three-man crew of a Chinese spacecraft and the first Chinese "Space Walk". Now the video shows that some Chinese astronauts, such as Fei Junlong and Nie Haisheng, are all in training for the flight. According to Yang Liwei, they could possibly be chosen. The video also displays that the construction of the spacecraft is reported to be proceeding smoothly, with all the separate systems delivered for integration.

First moon picture from China
China joins the ranks of the nations who have successfully deployed deep space projects, with their publication of the first lunar picture. The black and white image showed a rough moon surface with scattered round craters both big and small. The area covered by the picture, about 460 kilometers in length and 280 km in width, is located within a 54 to 70 degrees south latitude and 57 to 83 degrees east longitude. China will provide the data collected to as many scientists as possible. Premier Wen Jiabao (R) unveiled the first picture of the moon, sent back from the lunar probe Chang'e I, in Beijing November 26, 2007. The premier said that the lunar probe was the third milestone in China's space exploration, following the success of man-made satellites and manned space flights. The...

Chinese Lunar Exploration Program part 9
Chinese Lunar Exploration Program (CLEP) (Chinese: 中国探月; pinyin: Zhōngguó Tànyuè) is a program of robotic explorations and human missions to the Moon undertaken by China National Space Administration (CNSA), People's Republic of China's space agency. It uses Chang'e lunar orbiters, rovers and soil return spacecraft and adapted Long March 3A launch vehicle. The launch and the flight are monitored constantly by a TT&C System (Deep Space Tracking Network, with radio antennas of 50 m in Beijing, 40 m in Kunming, Shanghai and Ürümqi, forming a 3000 km VLBI antenna.[1][2]) and the Ground Application System, responsible for downlink data reception. The first spacecraft of the program, Chang'e 1, an un-manned lunar orbiter was successfully launched at Xichang Satellite Launch...
