Chavez: Russia and Venezuela unite as oil & gas giants
Russia and Venezuela have made a giant leap in co-operation in the oil and gas industries, said Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in summing up the results of his two-day visit to Moscow. He also commented on Venezuela's relations with the U.S. and Europe and the militarisation of Latin America.

El presidente de Ecuador, Rafael Correa, desestimó este sábado las acusaciones del Gobierno colombiano y la Agencia Central de Inteligencia (CIA, por sus siglas en inglés) que pretenden vincular a su gobierno y al de Venezuela con las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC).
Durante su programa "Diálogo con el presidente", el mandatario ecuatoriano señaló que Estados Unidos arremete contra Venezuela porque saben que las pruebas contra Ecuador son muy débiles.
Destacó que tanto su gobierno como el de Venezuela "no tienen nada que ver con las FARC" y eso lo sabrán demostrar ambos países.

October 30, 2008) Riding high this summer, three oil-producing nations sharing a disdain for the U.S. used their petro-dollars to fund policies not in the super-power's playbook. However, with the abrupt change of worldwide, economic fortunes, oil states now have headaches of their own. Venezuela's Chavez, who blustered and spread the wealth, has become more contrite as oil income shrinks; Iran spent alot on crowd pleasing measures that did not manage to throw off the dead weight of sanctions. For now, only Russia seems able to have it both ways, pushing against the U.S. when oil was expensive, and now that it is cheap, cutting a deal with China that could change the game for everyone.

Energy and arms dominate Russia-Venezuela talks
Russian energy majors have signed co-operation agreements with Venezuela's state-owned oil and gas company, PDVSA, during President Hugo Chavez's two-day visit to Moscow. Russia and Venezuela are working towards the formation of a strategic alliance in the energy sector, said Chavez after talks with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev. Moreover, Dmitry Medvedev and Hugo Chavez have promised to take personal control over the implementation of key joint oil and gas projects.

Iraq? -for oil?
A short video that examines the notion that the U.S. was motivated to attack Iraq for oil. As America tries to exit Iraq, the type of government left in control of Iraq and it's oil reserves is a crucial factor for a lot of people, including big business, but was oil really what launched the war in March 2003?
According to Iraq oil expert Mohammad Al-Gallani at British-based GeoDesign Ltd, Iraq has 526 prospective drilling sites, of which only 125 have been drilled. Of those, 90 have proven potential as oil fields, but only 30 have been partially developed and just 12 are on stream.
