Russia and Venezuela boost diplomatic ties - 26 Nov 2008
Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian president, is set to arrive in Venezuela for a visit that coincides with the arrival of several Russian warships.
Al Jazeera's Teresa Bo reports from Caracas where the two countries participate through a series of joint naval exercises, which has not happened in South America since the Cold War.

Tunnel of Death (Lefortovo Tunnel, Russia)
The 3,150 m long Lefortovo Tunnel in Russia is the longest 'in-city' tunnel in all of Europe. There is a river running over it and water leaks at some points. When the temperature reaches minus 38 degrees like it did last winter, the road freezes and the result is the attached video taken during a single day with the tunnel camera. Congratulations to the driver of the dual bus!!

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin defended her comment that the proximity of Russia to her home state of Alaska gives her foreign policy experience, explaining in a CBS interview aired Thursday that "we have trade missions back and forth."
Palin, the 44-year-old Alaska governor, has never visited Russia and had never traveled outside North America until last year. She also had never met a foreign leader until her trip this week to New York. In the interview, she did not offer any examples of being involved in any negotiations with Russia.

Very interesting article. Of course here “in the land of the free and the home of the brave” a rigged election could never occur. What took place in Florida in 2000 didn’t really happen. There is no such thing as “hanging chads” but if there was such a thing it would be only Republican chads at that. Everyone knows that a “hanging chad” under a Democratic column is really a vote for Republicans, especially in Florida. Dirty politics could never happen “where the buffalo roam”. Here “in the land of the free and the home of the brave” Supreme Court Justices never ever make a mistake, not ever, even when they overrule vote recounts. There is no global warming here either because our Commander-In-Thief just doesn’t believe in it. According to him we never have and never will do torture either. It is perfectly OK with him for one percent of the population to have over half the entire country’s wealth also.
According to our Commander-In-Thief’s administration we have every right to issue moral report cards on every other country on Earth also. Only we are perfect and are favored by God himself to rule the World with our Commander-In-Thief leading the way and doing divine deeds.
In any other country whose leader has overwhelming support and wins an election by a landslide,,,,,well,,,,,you know……it must have been rigged. Certainly no Democracy there.
