Russia Election - How it was rigged

Posted by Matt in December 4th, 2007

Nor was there any doubt that the poll was rigged. “The election was not fair and failed to meet standards for democratic elections,” concluded the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the Council of Europe in a joint statement. Nothing was left to chance to ensure a high turnout. In Moscow your correspondent spotted several “tourist” buses stuffed with people from far-flung regions. They voted early and often. The buses were guarded by men in black leather coats and ski hats who, every few minutes, would let a small group out of the vehicle to cast their ballots. They would move to the next polling station and repeat the exercise. The “leader” of the group said the men were workers from a nearby factory. But, despite strict instruction to keep silent, some admitted that they were free labourers and came from as far away as the Kemerovo region, some 3500 km from Moscow. “We have been going around polling stations since lunch time,” grumbled one man, “and they have not paid us yet”.

Tunnel of Death (Lefortovo Tunnel, Russia)
The 3,150 m long Lefortovo Tunnel in Russia is the longest 'in-city' tunnel in all of Europe. There is a river running over it and water leaks at some points. When the temperature reaches minus 38 degrees like it did last winter, the road freezes and the result is the attached video taken during a single day with the tunnel camera. Congratulations to the driver of the dual bus!! P.S. The music is called Avalon and the artist is Juliet. I actually doubt this footage is from one day, but the above note is word for word the original description I got. PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER VIDEOS!

Cheated of Childhood - Russia
Feb 2002 Russia's metro stations have become home to a generation of street children, who survive by begging or prostitution. At first sight, 11 year old Yuriy and his 13 year old friend Max look like normal, happy children. But after family problems forced them to leave home, they've been reduced to living on the streets. "For me, the most dangerous thing about living on the street is paedophiles," states Max. "I know a lot of people who have been abused." Despite this risk, both boys would rather remain homeless than return to their families. Max and Yuriy are just two of the millions of children thought to be living on the streets. Once homeless, many children turn to glue sniffing and become infected with HIV. The issue of street children is a relatively new problem for Russia. The...

Stalin Nostalgia - Russia
June 2005 He turned Russia into a giant concentration camp, killing tens of millions of people. So why do so many Russians regard him as a hero and long for another Joseph Stalin? "He's the man who created our country. How can you not love him?" proclaims one elderly lady. "He was just, honest. When he died, we were all crying." Stalin has long been admired by the older generation, who grew up in a world where the Soviet Union was respected and feared. The difference now is that some of their grandchildren agree. "For me, he's the figure who played the greatest role in the 20th century," states 23 year old Alexei Sidorov. For the first time in decades, new statues of Stalin are going up. Streets and parks are being named after him and there's fresh interest in his life. But that's...

Hate Crimes - Russia
April 2007 St Petersburg has become the skinhead capital of Russia. Girls as young as nine have been attacked and murdered by ultra-nationalists, targeted simply because they aren't Russian. Dmitri leads the extremist Slav's Union group. "You realise we are at war", he states. "We can have people ready and fully armed within an hour". Militia groups like his are blamed for a host of racist murders, including the stabbing of two little girls. But Dmitri believes these killings can be justified. "Who might those children become in the future --terrorists or enemies?" There's little sign the authorities doing anything to tackle the problem. Some MPs even claim the victims bring the attacks on themselves. As Alexander Prokhorenko from St Petersburg's City Government states; "These people...

Drugs & AIDs - Russia
July 2002 It's 5am: rush hour for some of Moscow's junkies. "I've almost no veins left," says Roma, a former dancer and choreographer. Natasha was a classical violinist. She started using after a beating by police. The UN estimates 2 ½ million Russians use drugs intravenously, and as a result, the AIDS rate has doubled in the past year. The authorities are doing little to help or warn addicts of the dangers. Moscow's Mayor refuses even to allow outreach workers to distribute clean needles. But drug addiction doesn't just affect the poor. Simon lies in one of the city's few rehab clinics. His successful factories support his 5g a day heroin habit. "I'd shoot up and go to the casino..." Marcia was training to be an Olympic gymnast. "Imagine there was 1g of cocaine for each person. Imagine...

Sarah Palin Discusses Russia With Katie Couric
Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin defended her comment that the proximity of Russia to her home state of Alaska gives her foreign policy experience, explaining in a CBS interview aired Thursday that "we have trade missions back and forth." Palin, the 44-year-old Alaska governor, has never visited Russia and had never traveled outside North America until last year. She also had never met a foreign leader until her trip this week to New York. In the interview, she did not offer any examples of being involved in any negotiations with Russia. Palin's foreign policy experience came up when she gave her first major interview, on Sept. 11 to ABC News. Asked what insight she had gained from living so close to Russia, she said: "They're our next-door neighbors and you can actually...

Very interesting article. Of course here “in the land of the free and the home of the brave” a rigged election could never occur. What took place in Florida in 2000 didn’t really happen. There is no such thing as “hanging chads” but if there was such a thing it would be only Republican chads at that. Everyone knows that a “hanging chad” under a Democratic column is really a vote for Republicans, especially in Florida. Dirty politics could never happen “where the buffalo roam”. Here “in the land of the free and the home of the brave” Supreme Court Justices never ever make a mistake, not ever, even when they overrule vote recounts. There is no global warming here either because our Commander-In-Thief just doesn’t believe in it. According to him we never have and never will do torture either. It is perfectly OK with him for one percent of the population to have over half the entire country’s wealth also.
According to our Commander-In-Thief’s administration we have every right to issue moral report cards on every other country on Earth also. Only we are perfect and are favored by God himself to rule the World with our Commander-In-Thief leading the way and doing divine deeds.
In any other country whose leader has overwhelming support and wins an election by a landslide,,,,,well,,,,,you know……it must have been rigged. Certainly no Democracy there.
