Europe's Missile Shield (1/2) The United States' push to build a defensive missile shield in Europe is threatening a new Cold War between two old superpowers. America wants the Polish and Czech governments to provide bases for the project and they're prepared to invest billions of dollars to make it happen. The Russians fear the new missile system is aimed at them. They've warned governments in Warsaw and Prague that should they side with the Americans, Russian missiles would in turn be aimed at their cities.
