JERUSALEM — An airfield in Montenegro once helped ensure the survival of Israel, declassified documents reveal.
The airstrip played a part in a cloak and dagger operation in 1948 to provide warplanes for Israel’s nascent air force in the Independence War, the Associated Press reported, quoting recently declassified documents in Israel and Serbia.
