Ukraine Air Show Disaster - Sukhoi SU-27 Crash
The Ukraine Air Show crash of a Russian SU-27 jet is considered the worst air show disaster in history.
The Ukraine air show disaster happened on August 7, 2002 in Lviv, Ukraine. A Russian made Sukhoi SU-27 fighter jet was performing a maneuver at low altitude when it clipped the ground and became a somersaulting fireball into spectators. Eighty five people were killed and over hundred spectators were injured during the crash. The pilots, who ejected to safety, were ruled at fault for the crash.

Nearly twenty years after the Chernobyl disaster, the region is starting to get back to normal. It even has it's own burgeoning tourist industry.
The InterInform Hotel in Pripyat may not be five star, but it is booked solid for much of the year. "The Japanese joke it is the Chernobyl Hilton," laughs tour guide Rimma. Hundreds of curious holidaymakers are keen to visit the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster. The region also receives around 2,000 aid visits a year. It's boom time for those prepared to work here. Tour prices to Chernobyl have recently increased fourfold. "I came here to earn money," states the owner of a small guesthouse. "I told my doctor I wasn't afraid. I think a little radiation is good for you." With radiation levels in some places still...

The Chernobyl disaster - the severe days
This film shows the terrifying images captured by the Russian filmmaker Vladimir Shevchenko on scene at Chernobyl those dreadful days in April 1986. Shevchenko later died suffering from the radiation he exposed himself to. Although his name is not among the official casualties of the accident, this last tragic film of him keeps his name alive forever.
