You cannot blame the UN by itself. The UN does not have an army nor a nation of citizens to collect taxes from to fund its budgets. The UN is only as good as its members seek it to be.

Abuse of the UN typically comes from the 5 permanent members of the UN which includes the U.S. The U.S. is just as guilty of crimes against the world as China, Russia, England and France.

In other words the U.S. is no better than China!

Iran will have nukes soon, so what. Israel has nukes and just like Iran has said openly it will destroy Israel so has Israel said this about Iran. So why is Israel allowed to have nukes while Iran isn't?

By the way look into the abuses Arab countries have brought up in the UN about Israel in the occupied territories and how many times it has been blocked by the U.S. within the UN. So your argument about Tibet is groundless.

RE: "What does that say about the U.S.?-
"That we're a nation not too dissimilar to others???

oxi~ I could be wrong, but I believe you're from a European country. **IF** something happened to the United States, what power do you believe would have increased influence over the country you live in and if that happened, would it be more acceptable to you than the way it is now?

For all it's flaws, some could reasonably argue that there are great powers worse than the U.S...

Regarding the U.N.~ A number of European allies and the U.S. tried to bring debate on what's happening with Tibet and China. Not suprising, China and a number of other countries blocked it.

The "United Nations" is compromised by politicing and economic self-interests. Unless checked, Iran will soon have access to Nuclear weapons.

I wish you well.

We are not talking about Iran or North Korea. We are talking about the U.S.

The U.S. violated international laws and treaties by ig noring the UN and they violated their own Constitution.

What does that say about the U.S.?

oxi~ be careful what you wish for.

If the U.S. is severly incapacitated, the world will be a completely different place~ and probably not the utopia some envision.

Where is your vitriol for the Philistines, which fire missiles from civilian areas and honor no treaties?

Where is your anger at the Iranians, which build nuclear facilities under civilian population areas?

Do you scream aloud against those who store munitions in mosques?

Why haven’t I read any of your condemnation of North Korea’s treatment of it’s civilian population and it’s pursuit of Nuclear technology at the expense of it’s citizens?

Which is worse~ a man being paraded around naked and by a leash or having his head cut off by a dull knife (have you see that video?)?

THE REST OF THE WORLD is constantly violating International treaties, but we’re pretty much the only ones who are being castigated for it. Why?

We’re getting killed for playing by rules that almost no one else is playing by. The world KNOWS Iran is building a nuclear capability, but the politicians plays games for political and economic gain while the REAL risks to the world increase day-by-day.

Saddam openly encouraged suicide bombers by paying their families $50,000 and was the very definition of a State Sponsor of Terrorism. In the wake of 9/11, we told the world we would take action; we did then and we should do so now.

Why are you so angry with the U.S.? Is it because you believe we are supposed to be a light? That we’re supposed to be different or that we try to project the image that we are?

The world counts the Iraqi dead, blaming us as if we are sending out the suicide bombers to blow up a mosque and ignite sectarian war. Our best and bravest are dying and being maimed in Iraq while non-Iraqis terrorists blow up markets full of Iraqi people buying groceries and you would blame us?

Why?

What punishment would you recommend for the U.S.?

It is still no excuse for the U.S. to violate its own Constitution like the 4th Amendement, no excuse to violate the NATO Treaty, UN Charter, Geneva Conventions and Human Rights!

I do not care what the U.S. does in terms of help or monetary assistance, they still have violated international laws and treaties and should be punished for it!

The other day I was talking with my son and he asked about WWIII.

I told him that we (the US) were late entering into WWI and WWII, but that the US is early into WWIII.

He asked why others aren't willing to face it and I told him that Europe (and much of the rest of the world) had many millions of their peoples and a lot of their cities destroyed by war~ and they are hoping against hope against another one; but that war is come.

oxi~ Iran is the head of the snake. Their agents are spread across the world exporting revolutions and training killers.

I realize many non-U.S. peoples are saying the same about the U.S. but there are major differences.

1. The people of the United States have for many decades been the most generous people on Earth, giving nearly the highest amount (per capita) than any country on earth. Surely, whenever their is a tragedy, most of the world looks to the US for help.

2. The people of the United States have spilled their blood on many foreign soils not to occupy and brutilize the people, but to free them.

3. Rather than plunder the lands we came to, we gave our treasure (gold and silver) to support and rebuild the economies and cities of Europe. We do this now in Afghanistan and Iraq.

4. We as a people debate about "water boarding" as to whether or not that's torture.

A friend of mine is a Bahai (off-shoot of Islam) and asked me to read his holy book. In it, I read a story of what one muslim leader did to another (Bahai) muslim. While the man was still alive, the leader had the soles of the man's feet cut off. Then (again, while the man was alive), the leader had the man('s feet) put into boiling oil.

I can't think of a more horrifying form of torture than having your feet, minus freshly sliced off soles put into boiling oil! This is the mind and the conscience of the enemy... We must comprehend this implication fully.

My son asked me if people who committed suicide were heroes (I was shocked at the question and didn't know where it came from BUT, I wasn't going to run from it.)
I told my son that some people die saving or trying to save others; no matter what their faith or nationality~ these are heroes.

I then told him that there are some that intentionally try to kill people by wearing bombs on their bodies and stuffing their shirts with nails and ball bearings. They then blow themselves up trying to kill and maim as many men and women, boys and girls as possible. There should be no moral ambiguity here; these are the bad guys.

oxi (and anyone else, for that matter)...

Just as WWI and WWII built up for some time before the "World" part of war occurred, it is the same with WWIII. The difference, however, is that this time, the U.S. is in early and the other countries will be drawn in late.

WWIII is not avoidable and in fact, started several years ago.

With another report of a U.S. nuclear submarine just passing through the Suez Canal on its way to the Persian Gulf and Cheney just about done with his trip to the region, the war is about to begin folks.

Monday, March 24, 2008
TEHRAN: An American nuclear submarine has crossed the Suez Canal to join the US fleet stationed in the Persian Gulf, Egyptian sources say.

Egyptian officials reported that the nuclear submarine crossed the canal along with a destroyer on Friday and Egyptian forces were put on high alert when the navy convoy was passing through the canal.

An American destroyer recently left the Persian Gulf, heading towards the Mediterranean Sea; earlier on Thursday, a US Navy rescue ship crossed the canal to enter the Red Sea.

The deployment comes as recent reports allege that US Vice President Dick Cheney is seeking to rally the support of Middle Eastern states for launching an attack on Iran.

This is while US officials deny that Cheney’s Mideast tour is linked to a possible military attack on Iran.

According to the latest reports, in recent months a major part of the US Navy has been deployed in and around the Persian Gulf.
