Chinese astronaut makes nation's first spacewalk
BEIJING (AP) — A Chinese astronaut on Saturday performed the nation's first-ever spacewalk, the latest milestone in an ambitious program that is increasingly rivaling the United States and Russia in its rapid expansion. Mission commander Zhai Zhigang floated out of the orbiter module's hatch in the spacewalk, shown live on state broadcaster CCTV. Tethered to handles attached to the Shenzhou 7 ship's orbital module's exterior, Zhai remained outside for about 13 minutes before climbing back inside and closing the hatch behind him. "Shenzhou 7 has left the module, physically feel very good. Greetings to all the people of the nation and all the people of the world," Zhai said. Fellow astronaut Liu Boming also emerged briefly from the capsule to hand Zhai a Chinese flag that he waved for...

The 1962 India China War - Part 2
The India China war of 1962 part 1 is presented by Parag shah of Global Mavericks his video magazine using clips of the 1963 film 'Haqeeqat' war documentary of actual events that occurred in the conflict. In 1962 China invades India's northern region of Ladakh. Indian border outposts are overrun by the massive heavily armed Chinese Red Army supported by artillery in a surprise attack. The small lightly armed Indian units guarding the outposts fight valiantly against overwhelming odds but are eventually overrun and forced to retreat. The Chinese are eventually held back when the Indians regroup and counter attack. China till present day still occupies the captured region belonging to India. Background pre-1962 War British leave India and her administered territories. Tibet once under...

《玲珑塔绕口令》 (Chinese tongue twister) - attempt #7
My attempted replication of the tongue twister known as "玲珑塔绕口令" as performed in "双唱绕口令 by 何云伟 李菁," which can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_LHXxEugf8a (9:00-end) and then at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_s7XmhRlKo&feature=related (start-4:20). To answer the question folks have been asking me: I am reciting this completely from memory. This is a work in progress. Stay tuned for a more perfect attempt. To learn how to learn Chinese like I learn Chinese, check out my website: http://www.relearnchinese.wordpress.com

The Battle of China 10/10 (1943)
"The Battle of China," Chapter VI of Frank Capra's "Why We Fight" series, explains why the Empire of Japan possessed such a strong interest in ruling the disparate lands of China. In an attempt to break the will of the Chinese people in one massive assault, Japan invades Nanking and massacres forty thousand civilians. The attack results in an opposite effect, galvanizing the Chinese resistance and unifying the separate lands into a single Chinese identity. While the Japanese take control of all Chinese ports, hoping to cut off all resources from its victim, China's allies effectuate an engineering miracle. They construct the seven hundred mile long Burma Road over the mountains of Myanmar, and set up a constant caravan of trucks to ship food and materiel to the Chinese armies, keeping...

Beijing Olympics - China
July 2001 Many former critics supported Beijing in its frantic attempt to win the bid, lured by potential contracts.
