The sheer audacity of the writer of this column is breathtaking. The writer labors over the supposed threat to the NPT (Non Proliferaton Treaty) if Iran should develop a nuclear weapon. Forgetting for the moment the fact that not one intelligence agency in the US believes Iran is working on one….Iran did sign the NPT. That is something Israel DID NOT SIGN. Iran is NOT a nuclear threat to anyone. But, I would trust Iran with “the bomb” a hell of a lot more than Israel. Iran is surrounded by other countries holding “the bomb” and it has a massive amount of natural resources to defend from the likes of George Bush and Dick Cheney. They are salivating like mad dogs at the chance of getting control of Iran’s oil and gas…FAT CHANCE.
Me thinks Israel is more afraid of a rising industrialized rich Iran. It doesn’t have anything to fear from Iranian nukes because the Iranians are not stupid people. They want to develop and build their country just like everyone else. The fact that there are 70 million Iranians in a large resource wealthy country in a strategic location is what is truly frightening to Israel. Iran has oil and gas, Israel doesn’t have enough but that is their problem. The threat to Israel is largely geographic, geologic and demographic. It is not in any danger of being attacked and destroyed by anyone. On the other hand it is more a threat to peace in the Middle East than any other country because it senses a rising demographic threat. There are other ways for Israel to address that danger…war is not the answer.
Iran poses a threat to the United States by just not taking American dollars. It has broken the Dollar stranglehold. Other countries can now buy their energy needs without having to hoard Dollars as the reserve currency. That is why the Dollar is tanking. It is sliding all around the World because it has no real backing…not gold nor oil. It is backed by the US Fleet. The Iranian Oil Bourse did more to hurt America than anything else Iran could have done. With other nations being able to get off the Dollar it will bring the American economy staggering to its knees and may well end the American Empire without even firing a shot. The only way to stop this is for Bush/Cheney to go for broke and start another bigger war To try to force Iran onto the Dollar as a reserve currency,
just like America did to Iraq after the invasion. ANOTHER FAT CHANCE!
We can thank the Bush/Cheney administration for bringing America to this horrible predicament. They started two wars that we are not and cannot win. They squandered the surplus in the treasury left by the Clinton Adminstration by starting these wars and giving tax breaks to the most wealthy and unneeding citizens. They mostly led the way in shipping American manufacturing jobs out of this country while their corporate friends at the top gave themselves Mi$$ion Dollar bonuses. They led the way to more greed and corruption than has ever been seen in American history. They pretty much said “to hell with the environment” by tearing up the Kyoto Treaty. Their administration encouraged Americans to use their home equity as ATM machines…now look at the mess we are in.
This Administration has led the way in borrowing from China and everyone else leaving us facing a bleak future. They tried to build an American Empire on a credit card from China and Japan. Now we consider China a threat.
To solve the nightmare these idiots have created they want to blame Iran and it appears they want to start a war with it too.
If the US does start another catastrophic war under the orders of these maniacs it will without a doubt create a disaster both for the US and for Israel. We Americans had better be damn careful about attacking another country. The Army and Marine Corp are about worn out. The Navy might well lose some capital ships in another war, especially in the Persian Gulf.
If we cannot win fighting Iraq with 20 million not well armed fighters what in the hell will we do fighting 70 million Iranians who ARE well armed? The Moron in the White House is probably planning on finding out.
