Strange power cut in Damascus This is a clip made with still images of Damascus during a night-time power cut (August 2007) with the sounds of that chaotic city during daytime. It was quite striking how in a matter of seconds the city of about 5 million inhabitants was plunged into darkness. The only source of light was coming from passing cars, a few generators, and a spot light moving back and forth searching the sky. As I was taking these photographs, a taxi driver stopped and asked my Syrian husband what I was photographing. He replied it was a hobby.
