Iran Test Launches Kavoshgar-1 Space Rocket
Iran launched a rocket on Monday designed to send its first homemade research satellite into orbit in the next year, state television said.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad read out the launch countdown before the rocket blasted off to chants of "God is greatest" by an audience of officials in a control room, state TV reported.
TV footage showed the rocket soaring into the sky from a desert launch pad, leaving a vapor trail. A parachute appeared to drop from the rocket shortly after the launch. State television gave few details about the rocket.
State media said the research satellite, called Omid (Hope), would be launched by March 2009.

Iran's Kavoshgar-2 lifts off for space
Iranian Space Agency has successfully launched a second domestically-built rocket into space in line with its efforts to advance its space program. The Kavoshgar 2 (Explorer 2) rocket was launched on Wednesday, 26 November 2008. Having performed its functions, it parachuted back to earth some 40 minutes later. The rocket consisted of a carrier, space-lab and restoration system. Kavoshgar 1 had been blasted into space earlier in February, making Iran the 11th country to have acquired space-related technology.

Iran's Kavoshgar1 lifts off for space
Iran has launched a domestic sounding rocket into space simultaneously with the inauguration of its first domestic satellite complex.
The rocket, dubbed Kavoshgar1, was sent off to space from the launch pad on an official order from the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who attended the opening ceremony of the complex.
The suborbital research rocket took off at Iran's space launch base, which is specifically built for sending Iranian rockets into outer space from inside the country.
A sounding rocket is an instrument-carrying rocket designed to take measurements and perform scientific experiments during its suborbital flight.

TEHERAN - L'Iran a procédé avec succès au lancement de sa deuxième fusée spatiale, Kavoshgar-2, a annoncé mercredi la télévision iranienne.
"Après avoir accompli avec succès ses missions, la fusée Kavoshgar-2 est retournée sur terre avec un parachute spécial au bout de 40 minutes", a dit le commentateur de la télévision, sans autres détails.
L'Iran avait annoncé le lancement réussi le 4 février dernier de sa première fusée spatiale, Kavoshgar-1, qui aurait atteint une altitude de 200 km.
Cette annonce avait été accueillie avec un certain scepticisme dans de nombreux pays occidentaux, la France affirmant par exemple que l'engin, qui semblait dérivé du missile balistique Shahab-3, "ne disposait pas de capacités extra-atmosphériques".

On August 17th 2008, Iran succesfully sent its satellite carrier vehicle Safir-1 (Envoy-1) into low earth orbit, thanks to which remote sensing, satellite telemetry, geometric information system technology, as well as remote and ground station data processing were tested. The event followed test launches of the Kavoshgar (Explorer) satellite carrier earlier this year.
Safir-1 will be used to put into space Omid (Hope), as well as a series of further satellites by 2010. These will fulfill primarily environmental (natural disaster management, geology, etc) and telecommunications functions.
