Venezuelan armed forces occupied 32 sugar plantations Thursday, the latest in a wave of takeovers that some say is a bid by President Hugo Chavez to regain political momentum and reverse his recent popularity slide.
The farms in Lara state were taken over by army units at the request of the Chavez government’s National Land Institute, or INTI. The institute in recent years has handled takeovers of thousands of acres of underused farmland and turned them over to worker cooperatives.

The native Amerindian population of Cuba began to decline after the European discovery of the island by Christopher COLUMBUS in 1492 and following its development as a Spanish colony during the next several centuries. Large numbers of African slaves were imported to work the coffee and sugar plantations, and Havana became the launching point for the annual treasure fleets bound for Spain from Mexico and Peru. The execution of Charles I in 1649, on the orders of Oliver Cromwell, brought the English Civil War to an end. England became a Commonwealth or republic ruled by parliament with Cromwell as Lord Protector. Cromwell and his army of well trained and experienced soldiers, called Ironsides, came to Ireland in August 1649 with the intention of subduing the rebellion and stamping out all opposition to parliament. Kauai Horseback Mahalepu Beach
This is Spirit. He came from a strawberry farmer on Maui almost 5 years ago and we have been pals since we met. If he has one bad habbit it is that he LOVES to run!
