JAIME PLANA sings the Nazi Tango in Paris, 1941
In Nazi-Berlin 1941 „Star of Rio" was a pretty watchable little film, even though it's hard to categorize it: mosty musical, it's all around La Jana. She was born as Henriette Margarethe Hiebel in Vienna, began her career at a child ballet for the Frankfurter Opera, and had later entrances in cabarets and revues where she continued appearing successfully as a dancer. She was a great hit in films, and it's really a pity that „Stern von Rio" is her last picture. During a Christmas tour in Germany in 1939 she caught pneumonia which led to her death at the age of 35. The premiere of the film took place exactly one week after her death, so naturally it was a huge hit in its morbid way. In Paris, after the Invasion, this Nazi tango has been immediately translated and joyfully sung in...

Recording: Fud Candrix et son Orchestre, Django Reinhard, guitar - Seul ce soir, Rhytme 1942 "Rhytme" was the record label from Brussels, during the time of the Nazi occupation, also reproduced under Telefunken label. Fud Candrix continued his big-band performances in occupied Europe until 1945. It was a wonderful Belgian big-band, here performing Leo Marjane's great hit of France's occupation time: Seule ce soir (meaning: French women waiting for their men, gone away to war).

Lost Evidence: "Liberation of Paris" 1/5
The Liberation of Paris (also known as Battle for Paris) took place during World War II from 19 August 1944 until the surrender of the occupying German garrison on the 25th. The capital of France had been administered by Nazi Germany since the Second Compiègne armistice in June 1940, when the Vichy puppet regime was established with its capital in the central city of Vichy. The liberation was an uprising by the French Resistance against the German Paris garrison. On 24 and 25 August, the FFI resistants received backup from the Free French Army of Liberation and the uprising evolved to urban warfare with the use of barricades, submachine guns, and tanks firing against Nazi and Milice snipers until the German surrender on 25 August. This battle marked the end of Operation Overlord, the...

Geraldo & Fox News Defend Paris Hilton as She Goes To Jail
As Paris Hilton goes back to jail, Geraldo Rivera defends her, tooth-and-nail, while Shep Smith can't decide whose side he's on. Geraldo even compares Paris' imprisonment to what what happened to French women who were Nazi collaborators in WWII. Notice how they don't mention that she violated her probation, which is the reason she was ordered to jail. When you violate your court ordered probation, you do the time you would've done if you hadn't gotten the probation deal. It's not just because she was caught driving drunk or while suspended. It's because she got caught doing the same thing she was on probation for. PERIOD.
