Canadian oil companies are active in the Great Game of wrestling away energy control from underneath the nose of the Russian bear. Not only is it a new round of the Great Game for domination of the Asian Steppes and Mountain Passes in the Caspian Basin, its also a dangerous game, see Georgia/Russia conflict 2008. Special concern is the Turkmenistan gas pipeline project which will run past Kandahar right through the centre of the Southern region that Canadian troops attempt to conquer or perhaps reoccupy.
