I am deeply disturbed by the latest Russian actions regarding Georgia, and Russia's broader policies towards its neighbors.
Several weeks ago I called on NATO to extend a Membership Action Plan (MAP) to Georgia and Ukraine at the Bucharest Summit. I emphasized that this move would be a litmus test for the success of President Bush's leadership of the trans-Atlantic community. My support for MAP was based on the need to send a positive signal to Tbilisi and Kyiv to encourage them to stay on track with their positive reforms as well as to send a signal of our concern to Moscow about the future security of these countries.

Medvedev warns Georgia and Ukraine against joining NATO
Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev has warned that Georgia and Ukraine's accession to NATO could lead to more tensions. He said that if Ukraine did sign up to the alliance it would break existing agreements it has with Russia. The comments were made at an informal summit of CIS countries in St. Petersburg.

Russia-Georgia War
The Russia-Georgia war and who's really behind it. I have nothing against Georgia and its people the war between the two former allies was a needles tragedy caused by the United States I hope that Georgia and Ukraine get rid of Saakashvili and Yushenko and unite with Russia and other nations against the US and NATO.
I know its hypocritical of Russia to recognise Abkhazia and South Ossetia but South Ossetia will soon join North Ossetia and Abkhazia has a right to independence were as Kosovo does not.
