BRICs are terms used to refer to the combination of Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
General consensus is that the term was first prominently used in a thesis of the Goldman Sachs investment bank. The main point of this 2003 paper was to argue that the economies of the BRICs are rapidly developing and by the year 2050 will eclipse most of the current richest countries of the world.

The possible new world reserve currency could possibly be a basket of Currencies called the B.R.I.C. These are the countries Of Brazil, Russia, India and China who have formed an Alliance with each other. Brad Gordon from Macquarie Private Wealth talking Oil - he is clutching at straws.
Lets see - all over the developed world - lets not forget the less-developed world oil consumption is booming which leads onto growth in demand - oil price doubled with in a year when demand has only increased insignificantly -!!! Hulloo - You can't just count demand from developed nations - Demand from BRIC countries has been massive - and is against a static, constrained supply situation.

I shouldn't be too harsh - Brad is nice guy - truly he is, knew him from Varsity days - but he really needs to school up on the fundamentals of oil.

Call for renewed Kosovo talks

- China, India and Russia foreign ministers called on Thursday for a renewal of talks between Serbia's leaders and Kosovo on the status of the disputed territory.
'Russia, India and China call for the renewal of talks between Belgrade and Pristina within the framework of international law and for agreement between them on all problems related to this Serbian province,' Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
Lavrov was speaking alongside his Chinese and Indian counterparts, who gathered in the Siberian city of Yekaterinburg for a meeting on Friday of foreign ministers of the BRIC countries -- Brazil, Russia, India and China. Lavrov stressed that the Kosovo dispute should be resolved 'exclusively on the basis of international law.'

Emerging Markets Index: BRIC
Dr. Goldberg talks about findings relative to the BRIC nations from the 2008 Emerging Markets Index, a study sponsored by MasterCard Worldwide that charts economic statistics for cities within the emerging markets.
With 15 cities ranked in the top 30 and four in the top ten including #1 Shanghai, #2 Beijing, #6 Guangzhou and #10 Shenzhen, China outshone all other countries in the Index. Fast-growing Brazil had five cities appearing in the Index, including Sao Paolo (#12 overall) which scored in the top ten globally in dimensions related to financial market volumes and business connectivity. Eight Indian cities appeared in the Index, more than any country other than China. Moscow, Russias Most Connected City, places within top 15 cities globally.

JP Morgan produced a report in April 2007 (From Ho Chi Minh Trail to Mexico) where they included Bangladesh in their Frontier Five. The Frontier Five was selected on the relative attractiveness of these markets based on macro-economic and demographic trends.
Goldman Sachs included Bangladesh in its Next 11 after the BRIC nations (Brazil, Russia, India and China), which identified countries that may have the potential one day to emulate the BRIC nations who are forecast to rival developed economies. Goldman Sachs evaluated the countries on the basis of macroeconomic stability, political maturity, education, openness of trade and investment regulation.
