U.S.: N. Korea Gave Syria Nuclear Help

Yesterday in Washington, D.C. the Central Intelligence Agency or CIA, briefed Congress on Syria's nuclear ambitions. They say one nuclear power plant in Syria was not for peaceful purposes. Here's more on this story.
STORY:
A stunning allegation by the White House—North Korea helped Syria build a covert nuclear reactor facility within its borders. The disclosure comes seven months after Israel bombed the suspected nuclear
site in Syria's eastern desert...but Washington had never confirmed those suspicions until now.
During an intelligence briefing with lawmakers, U.S. officials played a narrated video showing what they said were photos of the nuclear reactor.

The United States releases photographs of what it claims is a Syrian nuclear reactor built with North Korean help.
The reactor was destroyed by Israel in an air strike on 6 Sept 2007.
The attack was initially shrouded in secrecy out of what the Bush administration said was fear that public discussion could prompt Syria, which has long supported militant Palestinian groups, to retaliate.
"We are convinced, based on a variety of information, that North Korea assisted Syria's covert nuclear activities," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said in a statement.
"We have good reason to believe that reactor, which was damaged beyond repair on Sept. 6 of last year, was not intended for peaceful purposes," she said.

STORY:
New photos Pentagon chiefs describe as intelligence supporting their charge that Syria was secretly building a nuclear reactor with North Korean help that "was not for peaceful purposes."
Syria rejects the accusation as "ridiculous" and denies any links to Pyongyang.
The Pentagon has repeated the charge and backed it up with these stills it says show the alleged reactor after it was bombed by Israel last September.
