Civil War in Lebanon لبنان News Anchor slams Hezbollah
The only woman who comes to mind while watching this video of Lebanese TV presenter Sahar Al-Khatib is Wafa Sultan. I have never seen any other woman in the Arab world with the poise and the you-know-what to put the terrorists in their place. In this clip, which was shown (apparently live) on Lebanon's LBC TV on May 9 (this past Friday) Al-Khatib blasts Lebanon's opposition leaders (Hezbullah and Amal) following the shutting down of the pro-government Future TV by the supposedly neutral Lebanese army and Hezbullah.
If this woman is willing to talk to Israelis (unlike the crying fool who is Lebanon's Prime Minister), I'll bet we could find her work with a much more open media here in Israel. I'd go to bat for her.

Civil War in Lebanon Hezbollah Shuts Down Pro Government TV
There is officially a war on in Lebanon. At least eleven people have been killed in fighting today as Hezbullah and its allies in Amal have gained control of some neighborhoods in Beirut. Among other things, Hezbullah and its allies have succeeded in shutting down the pro-government Future TV network. Let's go to the videotape to see that, and then I will have more.
Beirut Spring has some pictures taken at the ransacked Future TV offices, which offer proof that it's Syria and Iran that are behind what's going on in Beirut today. The areas that the Shiites control are in the Muslim sectors of Beirut. Here are more details.
Shi'ite opposition gunmen seized control of large areas of Beirut's Muslim sector from Sunni foes loyal to the US-backed government on Friday, in street battles that...

Civil War in Lebanon لبنان Army in Cahoots with Hezbollah
The IDF has declared a high alert on Israel's border with Lebanon. Let's go to the videotape and then I'll have the second part of this story.
One of the reasons the IDF is so worried about what's going on in Lebanon is that it is clear that not only is the Lebanese army not going to do anything to stop Hezbullah - they are actually helping Hezbullah out.
Witness accounts of Hezbollah's actions in Lebanon in the course of the incidents demonstrate not only that the Lebanon Army is refraining from trying to bar Hezbollah from operating throughout the country, but is in fact carrying out orders from the organization and granting it media cover.
Lebanese media reports clearly indicate that Hezbollah is practicing censorship over broadcasts of the various networks. Nonetheless, it can be...

Civil War Coming in Lebanon لبنان
Hezbullah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah today accused the Lebanese government of declaring war on Hezbullah as his group blocked roads leading to Beirut's airport for a second straight day.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said Monday that the Lebanese government's decision to declare the Iranian-backed group's telecommunications network illegal was tantamount to a declaration of war.
"This decision is first of all a declaration of war and the launching of war by the government... against the resistance and its weapons for the benefit of America and Israel," Nasrallah told a news conference, vowing to "cut off the hand" that tries to dismantle it.
He was commenting on a government decision to dismantle and take legal action over the group's network.
But Nasrallah's...

Lebanon: The Audacity of Hope - 21 Jun 08 - Part 1
For years, Lebanon has been in political crisis. Civil war, political assassinations and all-out war with Israel shattered any hopes of peace this tortured nation may have had. Until now. Within days, leaders from all the parties gathered in Doha and reached a momentous agreement. Lebanon: The Audacity of Hope with Marwan Bishara, Al Jazeera's senior political analyst, asks if the agreement will hold and if it could be a model for the region.

Hezbollah fighters take over Beirut
Hi on this Friday, May 9, 2008. I'm Rebecca Field in for Kristin Volk with your UPI top news update.
Hezbollah fighters are taking control over Beirut today after a long-standing fight with pro-government gunmen. Security sources say 11 are dead and 44 are wounded following 3 days of battles between the U.S. backed government and Lebanon's Iranian backed Hezbollah. The fighting reportedly started when the government targeted Hezbollah's communications network. The violence is apparently the worst internal fighting since Lebanon's civil war which ended in 1990.
Oil prices hit another new high today. U.S. Crude oil delivery for June jumped to more than $125 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange this morning. This comes as a result of a weakening U.S. dollar and also a...

Lebanon Forces Battle Hezbollah
CHAN:
Gunmen loyal to Hezbollah are fighting pro-government supporters in Lebanon. Fierce clashes are reported in the capital, Beirut, and other violence was also seen in other parts of the country. Let's take a look.
STORY:
The sound residents here in Beirut dread most. Gunmen loyal to Hezbollah open fire on buildings as they battle pro-government supporters in the Lebanese capital.
Lebanon started to slide towards conflict after the U.S. backed Beirut government declared a telecommunication network run by Hezbollah was illegal.
Iranian-backed Hezbollah said this meant the government had declared war by targeting their network.
They vowed to cut off the hand that tried to dismantle it.
[Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah Leader]:
''Whoever declares war on us, even if a father or a brother,...

This is a strange but interesting article. Miss Glick refers to how the French dealt with the “insurgencies” in Viet Nam and Algeria during the period they were under French Imperial rule. The article is about how to deal with insurgencies. Of course France lost both battles because the Vietnamese and the Algerians wanted to be FREE.
This brings to mind the question of just what would one call the French resistance to Nazi German rule in WWII. Were the French just a bunch of unruly unprincipled terrorist “insurgents” OR were they freedom fighters. It all depends on just what side of the coin one is looking at.
In Judea 2000 years ago the Romans saw the Jews as just a bunch of Zealot terrorist insurgents who refused to accept Imperial rule which the Romans thought was a very good idea.
The Jews paid a terrible price for their insurgency. Now they see the Palestinians in exactly the same way the Romans saw them.
In Iraq America today faces what it calls an insurgency but it is really the Iraqi’s desire to be free of foreign rule. To the Iraqis fighting the American occupation is fighting for freedom. In the end the fight for freedom will almost always win out. America does not have the legions that Rome possessed nor the mindset to be as savagely cruel. Rome totally destroyed Judea and crucified thousands of Jews for refusing to accept Western Civilization.
