Baghdad, Jul 14, (VOI) -- Today marks the 49th anniversary of the July 14, 1958 Revolution led by Iraqi leader Abd al-Karim Qasim, which overthrew the monarchy and founded the first Iraqi republic.
On the occasion, Iraqi President Jalal al-Talabani congratulated the Iraqi people, explaining that the July 14 Revolution was a result of political and social harmony and the long struggle for victory by all segments of Iraqi society.
