Military Spending
Baker Spring, a F.M. Kirby Research Fellow in the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for International Studies at the Heritage Foundation, explains why the United States, in order to purchase the right military systems and fund the necessary programs for the military, needs to commit to spending at least 4% of its GDP annually on national defense.

Masters and Slaves - Military Spending - Poverty - War
A Revolution Team Production
Masters and Slaves -- Military Spending -- Poverty -- War
Under Construction:
The World has money to spend on weapons but when it comes to feeding the poor and helping the less fortunate, it gives a blind eye....
Military budgets are always being excused and justified by the Masters in the name of national security.....thus easily sold to the Slaves.
When it comes to public services, taxation, health and education etc, the Masters claim the budget is limited. What an irony!
Some facts:
1. World military expenditure in 2006 is estimated to have reached $1204 billion in current dollars;
2. This represents a 3.5 per cent increase in real terms since 2005 and a 37 per cent increase over the 10-year period since 1997;
3. The USA, responsible for about 80...

Chinese communist party increases military spending
KEAN:
The BBC reports the latest on defense spending in the mainland.
The CCP says it plans to increase military spending by nearly 18% this year to nearly 60 billion U.S. dollars.
Just before the announcement, the U.S. government released a report criticizing China's military spending, voicing concern over advances in space and cyberspace.
In the report, Washington claimed that the real Chinese defense budget for 2007 was at least double the stated amount.
Other nations have also expressed concern about China's growing military power. They say Beijing is not open enough about what it is spending its money on.

Defense Spending
Video for 10 Questions concerning defense spending. While defense spending is 3-6% of the GDP, it is more than the spending of all other nations combined. And our allies constitute the majority of the rest. War and war preparation is big business and profit for the West. The Defense Department cannot balance its budget to within a few trillion dollars. Yet on 9-11 we were defenseless. Was Eisenhower correct about the Military-Industrial-Congress complex?

The Spirit of '43
http://spirit.aplysia.net
On February 4, 2008 President George W. Bush unveiled its proposed Fiscal Year 2009 Budget: a $ 3.1 trillion budget. More than $ 500 billion will go to the Pentagon. That means a boost of military spending of more than 7%, not counting war spending (another $ 70 billion each 5 months). When President's budget will be approved (in October), annual military spending, when adjusted for inflation, will have reached its highest level since World War II. At the same time US deficit will grow up to more than $ 400 billion, while Medicare and Medicaid spending will go down. In the web clip "The spirit of '43" you'll find a creative telling of this story, narrated through the use of different video footage, including a 1943 Walt Disney's cartoon.
