Hi JL,

I agree with most of what you're saying. It's too late to keep the nuclear genie in the bottle. Iran will get the capability to produce nuclear bombs in 2009. It's not clear if it will actually do so. It might make more sense to wait until it has the capability to produce a lot of bombs at once.

The United States cannot stop Iran from building a nuclear weapon. Israel can't stop it either. It's over.

Looking 20 to 30 years into the future I see many countries with the ability to produce nuclear weapons. When the time comes many countries can quickly build many nuclear weapons.

Like I said earlier, you cannot sit back and relax while the rest of the world goes to hell. At some point this must affect us all directly.

Think about America relaxing while World War II was going on. Could one really think that we wouldn't be directly affected in some way?

In regards to the dollar, there are some things that we could do to improve the situation. We could start by balancing our budget. Also, raising interest rates would help improve the dollar.

The American empire is clearly in decline. What is going to take its place? I see the E.U. as the world's next dominate power.

One might think that the BRIC countries might emerge as the new world power. I don't see this happening primarily due to war. Although, Brazil might emerge as a strong power over the next 20 years.

SORRY...I ACCIDENTLY POSTED THAT BY MISTAKE BEFORE FINISHING...

continuing..Iran's willingness to accept other currencies besides the Dollar has started the Dollar downward...other countries will not have to hoard Dollars as their reserve currency. This effectively means the Dollar now has NO BACKING...either in Gold (since Nixon took the Dollar off the Gold Standard) NOR in OIL since Iran's actions effectively nullify the Breton Woods agreement.
Thus..today we see the Dollar plunging like a rock in a pond. Today the Dollar is backed up mostly by Aircraft carriers.
Iran has found America's Achilles Heel and has sunk an arrow into it. Other than attacking Iran there is not a damn thing George Bush can do about it. This more than anything shows the level of rank stupidity that exists in this administration. We should have long since made peace with Iran and should have done everything possible to make friends with them.
Now it is too late thanks to George Bush's hubris.
America and Israel do not need to fear Iranian nukes. With Iran becoming stronger investment will start to dry up in Israel. Other nations needs for Iranian oil and gas will make them less interested in listening to American or Israeli complaints...just look at what Switzerland did recently. The handwriting is on the wall and the Israelis and most of this Administration's war mongers know it.
Iran is on the way to becoming the dominant power in their neighborhood. They have the resources and the population and the strategic location to accomplish their objectives.
It is the American people that need an education in what is really going on with Iran.

We do not need to make them our enemy..we have enough already.

The nuclear genie is now out of the bottle. Just about any country on Earth with a decent science establishment and the willingness to spend the money can now enrich uranium. It only takes more effort and money to refine that enrichment to weapons grade material. There is NO WAY the US or any other country is going to prevent the spread of knowledge and the US should not even try. It would be futile. The more the US is seen as a threat to other countries the more they are going to be willing to go for "the bomb".
In any case it makes perfect sense to go nuclear considering that fossil fuels are going to run out someday. Eventually most countries will probably generate most of their electrical power by splitting atoms. It is just a fact of life.
The problem lies in making sure that nuclear generating countries do not become bomb makers.
Now there are several countries that have the bomb but NEVER did sign the Non Proliferation Treaty...Pakistan, India and Israel.
Iran DID sign the NPT and unless anyone can prove otherwise they have lived up to its terms which explicitly give it the right to enrich uranium. Iran denies it is making "the bomb" and even our own intelligence agencies cannot prove otherwise.
The REAL threat posed by Iran is that it is a nation of about 70 million highly intelligent people (descendants of the Persian Empire). They are not Mad Men inspite of George Bush's rantings. Their real threat lies in their awesome natural resource holdings, their geographical location (just look at a map) and most importantly they do NOT WANT THE DOLLAR

Iran is going to get the bomb whether we like it or not. However, Iran is much more likely to share its nuclear technology than other countries.

How do we know that Iran will proliferate nuclear technology? Because the leaders told us they will.

Do you care that the cat is out of the bag?

Do you think the rest of the world will go to hell while you sit back and relax? At some point this will affect you directly.
