The First World War: Global War [3 / 10]
In 1914, war for Europe meant war for the world. "Global War" tells the extraordinary story of how Germany tried to open the war up around the world, and how Britain might risk everything to protect her Empire - even victory on the Western Front.
"Global War" is packed with untold stories of the glory days of maverick warfare. Admiral Graf von Spee of the East Asiatic squadron inflicted Britain's greatest naval defeat for 250 years: the Battle of Coronel. Captain Karl von Mueller of the German cruiser Emden threatened the entire British trade fleet in the Indian Ocean. In East Africa, Commander Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck - never defeated - fought armies five times his strength. All three became legends in Britain and Germany alike. But the war in Africa mercilessly exploited its black...

Human Rights in the Holy land of Saudi Arabia!!
please inform all human rights organizations or send this link to all news reporters
SANAA, April 27 — Saudi policemen burned 18 Yemenis while they were trying to cross into Khamis Bani Mushait, a Saudi village bordering Yemen. Alsahwa opposition newspaper reported on Saturday that the police poured diesel onto the men, who were hiding in a hole in the area to escape the police.
In answer to the victims' accusations, the Saudi police denied any connection to the fire.
However, an eyewitness said that the police started the fire at the entrance to force the victims out, while another eyewitness said that it was the first time the police burned immigrants, usually arresting and then deporting them

Seaports and maritime trade
Figurine of a foreign merchant of the Tang Dynasty, 7th century.Chinese envoys had been sailing through the Indian Ocean to India since the 2nd century BC,[64][65] yet it was during the Tang Dynasty that a strong Chinese maritime presence could be found in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea, into Persia, Mesopotamia (sailing up the Euphrates River in modern-day Iraq), Arabia, Egypt, Aksum (Ethiopia), and Somalia in East Africa.[66] From the same Quraysh tribe of Muhammad, Sa'd ibn Abi-Waqqas sailed from Ethiopia to China during the reign of Emperor Gaozu. He later traveled back to China with a copy of the Quran, establishing China's first mosque, the Mosque of Remembrance, during the reign of Emperor Gaozong. To this day he is still buried in a Muslim cemetery at...

Gigant der Meere p.5 - Admiral Zheng He (1371-1433)
Little did the famous Muslim geographer, Ibn Battuta know, that about 22 years after his historic visit to China, the Mongol Dynasty (called the Yuan Dynasty in China) would be overthrown. The Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) would begin. A Muslim boy would help a Chinese prince. That prince would become emperor and the boy would grow up to be the "Admiral of the Chinese Fleet."
His name... Zheng He. The ships that he would sail throughout the Indian Ocean would retrace some of the same routes taken by Ibn Battuta, but he would be in huge boats called "junks". He would go to East Africa, Makkah, Persian Gulf, and throughout the Indian Ocean.
Speak of the world's first navigators and the names Christopher Columbus or Vasco da Gama flash through a Western mind. Little known are the remarkable...
