Russia Bombing Georgia - retreat to defend capital - BP oil pipelines closed
STATEMENT ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE SECRETARY-GENERAL ON THE SITUATION IN GEORGIA
New York, 9 August 2008
The Secretary-General is alarmed by the escalation of hostilities in Georgia which have resulted in large numbers of casualties and massive destruction in South Ossetia and other regions of Georgia. The Secretary-General is particularly concerned about violence spreading to areas outside the zone of the Georgian Ossetian conflict.
The Secretary-General is profoundly concerned over mounting tensions in the Abkhaz zone of conflict, including the bombing of the Upper Kodori Valley and the ongoing military build-up along the security zone. Oil Wars: Chinese Corp. pt.2/5
The oil stocks and offshore reserves obviously share one thing in common, their vicinity to the sea this is an asset when one considers the easy of importations and exportations. It is also a weakness because it is exposed to foreign encounters. The Taiwanese security question is exposed, how long could China sustain a cross-straight assault? All three of the stock oil bases are within range of Taiwanese cruse missile attacks thus as the question of oil acquisition is presented the question of energy security follows close behind.
China's oil output is far lower than its domestic need due to low oil resources. It's growing economy demands greater and greater amounts of crude oil every year. In 2004, China had to import 100 million tons of crude oil in order to supply its energy demand,...

Выступление на международной энергетической конференции: РоссияВеликобритания: долгосрочное партнерство
26 июня 2003 года
Лондон
The level of British investment in Russia, in comparison with last year, grew by 50%. As you know, British Petroleum and Royal Dutch Shell recently announced that they were ready to invest a total of $17 billion in the Russian energy sector. I would suggest that this decision is the best confirmation of the positive changes in Russias investment climate. And today these companies are making further headway towards implementing those plans that...

President Bush Offshore Oil Production will lower prices provide jobs
Of course Pelosi will blaim it all on Bush!
Bush wants to allow the DOI to lease property for oil production
Dem's complain about big oil but never mention you can buy shares and invest, they complained too when big oil went bankrupt like Texaco, Calpine and Enron.
But according to Big oil execs:
The ex-chief executive of BP PLC (BP) John Browne said Tuesday that he expects falling oil demand to bring oil prices down, rather than an increase of supply.
Speaking at the Offshore Northern Seas conference in Stavanger Norway, Browne said: "Oil demand, not supply, will peak oil."
Oil prices have hit record peaks of just under $150 a barrel in the first half of 2008, although prices have since slipped back down towards $115 a barrel.
Separately, quizzed on Russia's record as an energy...

Douglas Feith - 60 Minutes pt 1 of 2
Why Iraq was invaded? He says 'the president decided' that the threats were so great that Saddam would attack the US at a time and place of his choosing? As if the Gulf War didn't send the message, so instead of focusing on the 'terrorists' in Afghanistan and Pakistan where supposedly Osama Bin Laden is hiding (and never going to be caught to keep you in fear), the US first strikes, assassinates Iraq's leaders, commits genocide, for oil. But not for cheap prices, instead for power, the Iraq Petroleum Company — Exxon Mobil, Shell, Total and BP and Chevron, got no-bid contracts to service Iraq's largest oil fields in thanks for their consulting services, how nice. At least the Bush administration has stopped saying it was to spread democracy to the middle east. And why doesn't the US...

President of Russia V.Putin
Round Hall,the Kremlin,Moscow
In other words, it shall also be an international company.
We have about ten quite large private oil companies such as LUKOIL, TNK BP, Surgutneftegaz and others-there are a great deal of them. Nobody is going to nationalize them, nobody is going to interfere with their activities. They are going to develop according to market conditions like private companies. I think that such a balance is better for the Russian economy today, and this includes active participation from our foreign partners and shareholders. Shall we look at TNK BP which, as you know, is 50 percent a Russian company and 50 percent owned by British Petroleum. I regularly meet with shareholders. Our British...

Fed chief says economy may downsize
Hello on this Wednesday, the second day of April 2008. I'm Kristin Volk with a UPI news brief.
The chairman of the Federal Reserve says the economy may shrink in the first half of the year. Ben Bernanke made the comment to an economic congressional committee earlier today. It's the closest the nation's central bank chief has come to proclaiming a recession. Bernanke said he expects further rises in unemployment. He also said the economic outlook has worsened since the Fed's projection was released in January.
Senator Hillary Clinton's lead in Pennsylvania has slightly narrowed over her rival, Senator Barack Obama. That's according to a poll just released that says Clinton now has a nine-point lead over her counterpart. In a similar poll released earlier last month, the New York senator...
