USAF Report: “Most” Nuclear Weapon Sites In Europe Do Not Meet US Security Requirements

Posted by Matt in June 19th, 2008

An internal U.S. Air Force investigation has determined that “most sites” currently used for deploying nuclear weapons in Europe do not meet Department of Defense security requirements.

A summary of the investigation report was released by the Pentagon in February 2008 but omitted the details. Now a partially declassified version of the full report, recently obtained by the Federation of American Scientists, reveals a much bigger nuclear security problem in Europe that previously known.

U.S. security - Russia's concern
Bill Clinton, when he was in the White House, decided against the deployment of missile defence systems. President Bush, on the contrary, supported and started implementing the idea. But will the ABM system in Europe make the world safer? And can this decision be reversed if the Democrats win the U.S. presidential election? The guests to answer these questions are the President of Ploughshares Fund Joseph Cirincione and Senior Adviser to the Centre for Defence Information Philip Coyle.

See my other videos for the details dating back decades. Russia has threatened to target the Ukraine with nuclear warheads if the former Soviet republic joins Nato and accepts the deployment of United States anti-missile defences on its territory. President Vladimir Putin of Russia warned Ukraine's leader Viktor Yushchenko of "retaliatory actions" should his country join the Western alliance during a joint press conference in Moscow. "It's frightening not just to talk about this, but even to think about, that in response to such deployment, the possibility of such deployments - and one can't theoretically exclude these...

In Defense of Israel with Shimon Erem
The Berean Call hosted a meeting where an estimated crowd of 600 came to hear retired General Shimon Erem, one of the most decorated soldiers in the history of modern Israel. TBC's executive director, T. A. McMahon, moderated the event, and we are pleased to present this professionally edited video production of that evening so that it may edify others and encourage Christian support of Israel around the world. Shimon Erem's service experience began in World War II as a member of the Jewish Brigade of the British Army, and continued from the 1948 War of Independence through virtually every war in the nation's history—including the Sinai Campaign, the 1967 Six-Day War, and the Yom Kippur War in 1973. General Erem recently met with key people in the Bush administration and in Congress,...

Nukes in the Low Lands
Dutch TV 080702. - A US Air Force investigation has found that most military bases in Europe that store nuclear bombs do not meet the most basic Defense Department security regulations. The report reveals some startling deficiencies in nuclear security in Europe in the wake of nuclear safety concerns and a historic Air Force leadership shake-up. The report stated that each site had "unique security challenges." "Inconsistencies in personnel, facilities, and equipment provided to the security mission by the host nation were evident as the team traveled from site to site," the study reads. "Examples of areas noted in need of repair at several of the sites include support buildings, fencing, lighting, and security systems." - The US has removed its nuclear weapons from Britain, ending a...

The scale and scope of current security threats require a co-operative NATO - EU relationship that maximises the assets of both organisations and puts an end to institutional bickering. A constructive relationship between NATO and EU is a key component of a vibrant transatlantic relationship. ALDE sees European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) and NATO...

France to push for EU rapid reaction force
When the next negotiations on the multi-annual European Union budget are launched, the bloc's members will have to decide how much money they want to put towards "soft power" abroad, such as trade and humanitarian aid, and how effectively they can develop hard power - armed men. An EU military is high up on the agenda of the French EU presidency in the second half of 2008. France wants to improve common European military capacity. It wants to press ahead with the EU's own rapid reaction force, which the leaders made a headline goal in 1999, to be equipped with autonomous headquarters, pooled material and satellite intelligence. Talking in this report are: 0:44 Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, in English 1:58 MEP Karl von WOGAU (PPE-DE,...

Two major deals involving the United States were worked out today at the G8 summit in Germany. The first, a deal to cut greenhouse emissions in half by the year 2050 was an important step on the road to getting the climate crisis under control and was praised by the G8 summit's host, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who called it "a significant and important step forward." However, critics say there is little in the deal that will bind the U.S. to the agreement since no mandatory target was set for the cuts, but there is no debate that today's news is a sign that the world's leaders are taking the climate crisis seriously. The other agreement brokered at the G8 Summit today is between US President Bush and Russian President Vladimir Putin over a proposed US missile defense site in...

EU military exercise - Milex 08
The European Union conducted its third military exercise (MILEX 08) from 19 to 27 June 2008 in the framework of the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP). MILEX 08 was based on the ALISIA scenario, which is being used for EU exercises in the time- frame from 2007 to 2011. This scenario depicts the situation regarding two fictitious countries, Rhodania and Relinesia, in which one of them identifies its need to have access to the sea and tries to achieve this goal through military force. This ignites a violent conflict between Relinesia and Rhodania which results in a UN resolution which mandates the EU, in accordance with Chapter VII of the Charter of the UN, to restore peace through the separation of parties by force and the establishment of a demilitarised zone in the border area...

Europe Anthem
Preliminary statement: The evolution of the European Union (EU) from a regional economic agreement among six neighboring states in 1951 to today's supranational organization of 27 countries across the European continent stands as an unprecedented phenomenon in the annals of history. Dynastic unions for territorial consolidation were long the norm in Europe. On a few occasions even country-level unions were arranged - the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Austro-Hungarian Empire were examples - but for such a large number of nation-states to cede some of their sovereignty to an overarching entity is truly unique. Although the EU is not a federation in the strict sense, it is far more than a free-trade association such as ASEAN, NAFTA, or Mercosur, and it has many of the attributes...

Russia Threatens Nuclear Strike AGAIN TODAY- This Broadcast is From the G-8, Yet it Shows Russia's WIllingness to Use Nuclear Weapons When Feeling Threatened By the US
BREAKING NEWS; August 13, 2008 Russia has threatened to target the Ukraine with nuclear warheads if the former Soviet republic joins Nato and accepts the deployment of United States anti-missile defences on its territory. President Vladimir Putin of Russia warned Ukraine's leader Viktor Yushchenko of "retaliatory actions" should his country join the Western alliance during a joint press conference in Moscow. "It's frightening not just to talk about this, but even to think about, that in response to such deployment, the possibility of such deployments - and one can't theoretically exclude these deployments - that Russia will have to point its warheads at Ukrainian territory," he said. The Russian and Ukrainian leaders had just held emergency talks in the Kremlin to avert a energy...

1950's Civil Defense Film - Survival Under Atomic Attack
Civil Defense or Civil Defence (see spelling differences) is an effort to prepare civilians for military attack. Since the end of the Cold War the concept has been replaced by a more general intent to protect the civilian population in times of peace as well as in times of war. The new concept is described by a number of terms, each of which has its own specific shade of meaning. Terms include: Crisis Management, Emergency Management, Emergency Preparedness, Contingency Planning and Civil Protection. Civil Protection is widely used within the European Union and refers to government-approved systems and resources whose task is to protect the civilian population, primarily in the event of natural and technological disasters. In recent years there has been emphasis on preparedness for...
