Motorcycle Helmet Cam Tengger Desert China
Mike, David, and I spent a night camping on the hard-pack dunes at the edge of the Tengger Desert in northern China. In the morning, I realized the dunes would be the perfect surface for some amazing riding. This segment is filmed in a less-steep area that we rode in, where we first got used to the riding, but all of it was a ton of fun.

Yellow Earth - China
Nov 1995
In China's Northern desert, the Great Wall is slowly sinking into the sands.
The people who live here on the Yellow Earth Plateau face a desolate wasteland. It hasn't rained for years and each family has to make do with one and a half buckets of water a day. They keep their wells locked. Overpopulation and a parched climate has forged deep cracks in the only arable land available. Life revolves around the Yellow River which takes its name from the 500 million tons of yellow dust blown into it every year. It cuts a green, iridescent arc across the barren plains. The encroaching desert, however, has prompted the Chinese government to re-settle nearly one million people. Ironically they move from old desert homes to new desert homes. The only difference in the new location is an...

Tibet is melting and turning into desert
China's Yellow River is drying up, vast grassland is turning into desert. Shocking images.
Halong Glaciers in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the source of China's Yellow River, have shrunk by 17% during the past 30 years. This could leave the region without glaciers by the end of the century and is an alarming sign of climate impact on the source of China's mother river- the Yellow River. A documentary by Greenpeace.

Wong Kar Wai's 'Ashes of Time' Premieres at Cannes
Kean Wong:
And if you can't make it to Cannes, here's a preview of an early work by famous Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai. His film 'Ashes of Time' premiered at Cannes on Sunday. Here's more:
Comparing his films to his children, Chinese director Wong Kar Wai says 'Ashes of Time' was like the forgotten middle child.
[Wong Kar Wai, Director]:
"It is like this this is our first production and this is like, if I compare like all my films with my kids, this is the kid that is not well treated at that point. So we want to do it right this time."
Based on Louis Cha's famous martial-art novel 'The Eagle -Shooting heroes', 'Ashes' premiered in 1994. It's shot in the Chinese desert, and tells the story of the novel's two main characters, the Lord of the East and the Lord of the West.
But Wong...
