People were against a new "employment contract" called the CPE (Contrat de premiere embauche) for newcomers to the job market = youth and students. But this contract made is very easy for the employers to fire people during the 1st 2 years....

France riots erupt
Groups of French youths threw rocks and bottles at police in a Paris suburb Sunday night in violence that left 21 police officers injured, and a number of cars and stores vandalized.

The clashes erupted after two teenagers were killed in a motorcycle crash with a police car, reminiscent of the tensions that drove countrywide riots in immigrant-heavy housing projects in 2005. Those riots were described as the worst civil unrest in France in more than 40 years.

Sunday's violence occurred in Villiers-le-Bel, a town of public housing blocks that is home to Arab, black and white residents, just a few kilometres north of the French capital.

CPE Paris Riots - Sorbonne Riot Police Attacks
The riot police were at the door under the students at the window.
They stoped people from forcing the doors. But as time went by more
and more police came. First they came from the north near the Place de
la Sorbonne, and then from the behind, where the Rue Victor Cousin
connects to the road near Bld St. Michelle. I filmed it a bit but then
a group of riot police came near the crowd and looked like they were
going to try to ram them. The students on the balcony were telling the
students on the road to disperse because of the police. The students
on the road didnt, and instead formed a human sheild against the
police. I backed off and managed to get behind the police so as not to
get beaten up when the crowd got rammed. As a result I dont have any
good footage of the raid, but there was a...
