Protect & Survive British Nuclear War Civil Defense Info
Protect and Survive was a programme of national civil defence put into effect by the British government during the late 1970s and early 1980s which used booklets, radio broadcasts, and public information films to instruct British citizens on how to protect themselves during a nuclear attack.
Protect and Survive had its origins in the civil defence leaflets dating back to 1938, titled The Protection of Your Home Against Air Raids. These advised the owner on what to do in the event of air attack. This evolved as the nature of warfare and geopolitics changed, with the leaflets concurrently updated into "Advising the Householder on Protection against Nuclear Attack" in 1963. The House In The Middle (Nuclear Attack Protection)
The House in the Middle is a 1954 short (Edited from the original 12:09) documentary film produced by the Federal Civil Defense Administration and the National Clean Up-Paint Up-Fix Up Bureau, which attempted to show that a clean, freshly painted miniature house is more likely to survive a nuclear attack than its poorly maintained counterpart.
Note that you have to be on the outer fringes of an attack to even consider the paint job as worth while.
In 2001 the United States Library of Congress deemed the film "culturally significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry.
The film was actually produced by the National Paint, Varnish and Lacquer Association.
The likelihood that repainting a house would be effective in protecting it from the extreme heat and blast...

GSD - Beginning Of The End - Gortoz A Ran
This AMV is focused on the "Break The World" incident of Gundam SEED Destiny and the nuclear attack on the PLANT's by the Federation.
I felt the song fitted perfectly with the sad theme of the Junius 7 drop and the repeat of the nuclear atrocities committed in the previous Bloody Valentine War.
I used footage from the Gundam SEED Destiny series and Special Edition, Gundam SEED Stargazer, and some additional live action footage from other films that I thought fitted really well.

"Protect and Survive" was the title of a series of booklets and a Public Information Film series produced by the British government during the late 1970s and early 1980s, dealing with emergency planning for a nuclear war.
The purpose of the programme was to provide members of the public with instructions on how to protect themselves and survive a nuclear attack. If such an attack had been deemed likely by the Government during any period of international crisis, a copy of the 'Protect and Survive' booklet would have been distributed to every home in the UK, and the films would have been transmitted on domestic television. Now what is so terrifyingly frightening here?
It is of course the horrific slaughter of an American city and perhaps a million innocent lives being snuffed out. Also, the unbelieveable panic that would ensue in every other American city and the total breakdown of our economy and culture.
Another horrific possibility that frightens ME is a quote from one of John McCainiac’s campaign figures that ” another terrorist attack on America would be good for the McCainiac campaign”
IS IT POSSIBLE? DOES ANYONE SEE A CONNECTION HERE? COULD THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPEN TO KEEP A REPUBLICANIAC IN THE WHITE HOUSE?
