Two Russian strategic nuclear bombers Tu-160 have arrived in Venezuela for training exercises. The aircraft were accompanied by NATO fighters on their way to the country, according to Russia's Defence Ministry.
The Tupolev Tu-160 strategic nuclear bombers landed at Venezuela's Libertador military airfield and "will spend several days carrying out training flights over neutral waters, after which they will return to the base," Interfax reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.
Col. Alexander Drobyshevsky, a ministry spokesman, told Interfax that NATO fighters followed the bombers on their 13-hour flight over the Arctic Ocean and the Atlantic.

For over 50 years, war between the U.S. and Russia has been UNTHINKABLE, since it means "Mutual Assured Destruction", or M.A.D. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M.A.D.
That's why the U.S. and its NATO allies, did NOT expand NATO protection to Hungary in 1956, Czechoslovakia in 1968, and Ukraine and Georgia, which border Russia.
But now, Sarah Palin wants the U.S. to give NATO protection even to Georgia, which just had a war with Russia.
When asked, by ABC's Charles Gibson, in the September 11, 2008 interview: "But then under the NATO Treaty, wouldnt we then have to go to war with Russia, if Russia went into Georgia?" She replied: "Perhaps So."
