HK photographer arrested amid ticket chaos

South China Morning Post photographer Felix Wong was arrested on Friday as chaos broke out on the final day of ticket sales for the Olympic Games in Beijing.
Wong was kept in custody during the afternoon but later released. Wong was involved in a scuffle with police officers before being arrested as police forcibly removed journalists filming and photographing chaotic scenes as thousands queued for tickets.
Wong and a reporter from a Hong Kong-based television network were among several journalists and photographers from the city who were forced to leave a restricted media interview area at the Olympics Sports Centre Gymnasium on Friday.

Buddhist monks and local people revolt to chinese occupation and abuses of human right.
Peaceful marches by Buddhist monks in recent days, and violent repression by the police have given way to angry crowds confronting riot police. Chinese police were reported to have shot 16 people and killing at least two people.
Chinese government has impose censorship on this situation in trying to protect the reputation on the face of the 2008 Beijing olympics. Already many the athletes who have being boycotting the event if the situation goes on.

Hangzhou, China, police bust counterfeit DVD vendor
In June 2007, I witnessed the arrest of a counterfeit DVD vendor at the night market in Hangzhou China. This video includes 6 short clips, the first of which shows night market vendors hurrying to hide their goods.
As I was walking through the market, I heard someone yell out something very loudly. After this, all of the vendors went crazy rushing to hide all of their apparently counterfeit goods. It was a little scary being in the middle of it all--it was a complete frenzy, and I could tell all the vendors were really scared. This video doesn't quite capture the chaotic feeling of the market but they might give you a hint.
At first I was surprised that the police allowed me to film them up close. But then I realized that they probably want to show Westerners that they are enforcing...

KATHMANDU—Members of a group of 43 Tibetans have described their terrifying flight to Nepal under deadly fire from Chinese border guards who took several dozen other Tibetans into custody.
Witnesses said at least one person was killed and at least one wounded by gunfire Sept. 30 near the Himalayan pass at Nangpa La in the Mount Everest region. Others set the death toll higher. Another 36 or 37 Tibetans were detained, witnesses told RFA's Tibetan service.
The group, which originally numbered around 80 Tibetans, began their journey out of Chinese-controlled Tibet on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, according to members of the group—41 asylum-seekers and two Tibetan escorts—who arrived in Kathmandu on Oct. 10.
