	Spain Economy Main article: Economy of Spain According to the World Bank, Spain's economy is the ninth largest worldwide and the fifth largest in Europe. As of 2007, absolute GDP was valued at $1.362 trillion according to the CIA Factbook, (see List of countries by GDP (nominal)). The per capita PPP is estimated at $33,700 (2007), ahead of G7 countries like Italy and placing Spain at a similar per capita basis as France or Japan (both with an 2007 estimated at $33,800). The Spanish economy grew 3.8% in 2007 outpacing all G7 members and all the big EU economies for the 3rd consecutive year. The centre-right government of former prime minister José María Aznar worked successfully to gain admission to the group of countries launching the euro in 1999. 	Eco-Warriors in Spain The economy of Northern Spain suffered a serious blow in 2005 when the infamous wave at Mundaka Bay failed to appear for the ASP World Tour, and the contest was canceled. Anger in the community was directed at a dredging project that had been approved the previous year by regional governments, and which was believed to have caused the world-class sandbar wave to disappear. Fast forward two years, and the coast of Northern Spain is again set to lose more quality surf spots. The wave at Mundaka thankfully re-emerged this year, but many other waves, both in Asturias and Andalucia, lie in the path of progress. Let's have a look. STORY: The exhibition, "Spain, Civilization Crossroads" displays 239 pieces representing Spanish culture. The National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), the Spanish embassy in Mexico and several other Spanish institutions created the exhibition. The CNT had warned Madrid of a rising based in Morocco months earlier and even gave the exact date and time of 5 A.M. on July 19, which it had learned through its impressive espionage apparatus.
