US general warns Russia on nuclear bombers in Cuba

Posted by Matt in July 22nd, 2008

Russia would cross “a red line for the United States of America” if it were to base nuclear capable bombers in Cuba, a top US air force officer warned on Tuesday.

“If they did I think we should stand strong and indicate that is something that crosses a threshold, crosses a red line for the United States of America,” said General Norton Schwartz, nominated to be the air force’s chief of staff.

Russia Sends Navy Fleet To Venezuela Cuba!!
Russia warns NATO To leave the Black sea In 21 days or be attacked. MOSCOW, September 2 (RIA Novosti) - Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday Russia will respond calmly to the presence of NATO warships in the Black Sea. (Russia's Black Sea Fleet - Image gallery) "Our response will be calm, not hysterical, but there will definitely be a response," Putin said. NATO sent a number of ships, including U.S. warships, into the Black Sea after Russia completed its operation "to force Georgia to peace" on August 12. The operation came as a response to Georgia's attack on South Ossetia on August 8. The U.S. has delivered millions of dollars of what it says is humanitarian aid to its ally Georgia. Russia has however questioned the nature of the deliveries. "If the talk is about...

Moscow: US missile shield may spark arms race. Syria, Cuba and Venezuela are ready to receive Russian Missiles to counter balance US Madness. Belarus, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brasil and Argentina are or will support Russia 2-3
We'll host Russian missile system - Syria Syria says it's ready to put a Russian missile system on its soil as a counterweight to U.S. plans to deploy a missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic. The offer was made during a meeting between Syrian leader Bashar Asad and President Dmitry Medvedev in the Black Sea resort of Sochi. Meanwhile, Moscow is considering a request from Syria for more Russian-made weapons. It was the first meeting between the two leaders, and President Al-Asad was keen to show Syria's support for Russia. "We understand what is behind Russia's position ... We believe this is a response to Georgian provocation. We support Moscow in this and are against any attempts to blacken Russia," Al-Assad said. Many expected a tit-for-tat response after the US sealed a...

Moscow: US missile shield may spark arms race. Syria, Cuba and Venezuela are ready to receive Russian Missiles to counter balance US Madness. Belarus, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brasil and Argentina are or will support Russia 1-3
Russia's Foreign Ministry fears the deployment of a U.S. missile shield just 70 kilometres from its border will lead to an arms race in Europe and beyond. The statement came after Washington and Warsaw signed a deal to place 10 missile interceptors in Poland, and strengthen military ties between the two countries. A corresponding radar station is to be deployed in the Czech Republic. Moscow accuses the U.S. of attempting to disrupt balance and stability in the world. On the Wednesday, the day the agreement was signed, oil prices soared to $115 a barrel in response to increased political tensions. According to Russia, the U.S. missile shield in Europe has nothing to do with threats from Iran as the Middle Eastern state is many years from having the capability to deliver missile strikes...

Russia is not isolated. Belarus, Syria and Venezuela have express their full support to Russia publicly. And it is obvious that other countries will support Russia politically as well.

So it is ok for the U.S. to create an ABM base in eastern Europe against Russia yet the Russians cannot deploy bombers to Cuba in response?

Seems unfair right?

The U.S. needs to understand that they do not control the world anymore. Russia should deploy those bombers to send a message that the U.S. cannot go around the world with its stick and expect nations to abide by her rules.

oxi~ with respect; the ABM sites are very small and defensive in nature, whereas the Bomber is an offensive weapon. There is no real comparison between the two.

oxi~ I’m curious~ would you really back Russia over the U.S.?

If Russia deploys the bombers, they will most certainly be destroyed.
