Russia and Europe draw up Georgia peace plan
Russia says it has called off the war in Georgia and agreed to a peace plan drawn up by current EU president France. But Georgia is tonight remaining defiant, claiming Russian planes are still attacking. It also says it will never surrender in its conflict over the pro-Russian breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. After meeting in Moscow, the French and Russian presidents announced a list of principles they've agreed on to try to resolve the conflict. The plan still has to be presented to Georgia.

Europe mediates Russia-Georgia crisis
A Council of Europe delegation is in Moscow to assess the state of Russian-Georgian relations, following the conflict in South Ossetia. The crisis will be the main focus of the group's parliamentary assembly, known as PACE, which opens in Strasbourg next week.

Russia-Georgia: Europe's finest hour!
The Russia-Georgia conflict cease fire is a triumph for European diplomacy. The Franco-German leadership has been steller in this conflict! The reality is that the European Union is the best international actor that is best suited to work at this conflict's resolution.
What is counterproductive is the attempt by the Americans and some East European leaders to want to use the Community to "punish Russia."
This must not be done -- and the European Union can use this conflict as an opportunity to grow closer to Russia, as promoted by the German FM, and also use this as a teaching tool for East Europeans on the true mission of the European project!

Georgia started shelling and mortaring capital of South Ossetia Tskhinvali, 2000 civilians died so far !Question is did Russia had rights to intervene in that conflict ? Of course she had, because 95% of Ossetians hold Russian passports, that means they are Russian citizens. Russian army successfully liberated Tskhinvali and pushed Georgian forces back to Georgia !

Now I don’t want to judge too quickly here but it certainly seems to me that the writer of this column is one of those who seem to believe that perhaps we (the West) should fight a “NUKULAR WAR” for the benefit of Georgia and its insane president.
I gather he feels that the killing of 2000 or so ethnic Russians and instability on Russia’s border is none of Russia’s business. Instead it is of vital American national security interests. After all America is the ONLY country in the entire World with vital national security interests. Every time some native in Borneo stumbles and falls it affects American interests of one sort or another.
Of course I’m being absurd here but those who comment lightly about getting involved in hostilities with Russia over one of its own neighbors had better think carefully.
I would suggest doing some research on the affects to a city of what a “one megaton” warhead can do. That is the average range of war fighting nukes these days. One of these can really ruin your entire day if you live close by.
The Bush Administration (if you can call it administration) is taking some terribly dangerous chances in the way it is provoking Russia. We are literally playing with fire on their border.
Pray that we survive long enough to get them out of office.
