Ivan Canas: Russia will be forced to appropriately respond if the U.S. aggravates Eastern Europe by deploying its controversial missile defence system
Medvedev: U.S. aggravating Eastern Europe
Russia will be forced to appropriately respond if the U.S. aggravates Eastern Europe by deploying its controversial missile defence system, President Dmitry Medvedev has told Russian diplomats. Medvedev has called for a truly open security system in the Euro-Atlantic zone.
"The deployment of elements of the U.S. global missile defence system in Eastern Europe is only aggravating the situation. We will have to respond appropriately and our American and European partners have already been warned," Medvedev said.
Medvedev stressed both Russia and the U.S. share responsibility for preserving strategic stability.
"It's clear our common legacy cannot be kept if one of the sides destroys selective elements of this strategic structure. It doesn't...

Russia hopes Obama will stop arms race started by Bush in Eastern Europe.
08-11-05 Russia hopes Obama will stop arms race started by Bush in Eastern Europe
Russia hopes to avoid arms race despite Western fears
Kremlin plans to deploy missiles in the western Russian territory of Kaliningrad was a response to the proposed Bush missile shield near Russian border.
With a new administration coming into power in the U.S., it remains to be seen whether Barack Obama will pursue Bush's policy of deploying AMD elements in Poland and the Czech Republic - or remember Russia's suggestion to set up an alternative anti-missile system in Azerbaijan.
In June 2007 Vladimir Putin proposed to George W. Bush that the two countries could jointly use a radar station in Gabala, which Russia rents from Azerbaijan, and a new radar under construction in Russia's southern city of...

Romance from Russia - Keto Dzaparidze - Utro Tumannoie
KETO DZAPARIDZE
- owner of, perhaps, one of the most beautiful altos in the history of Gypsy roomance singing - was a Georgian artist. Her recordings circulated in Eastern Europe thru last few decades and not much details were known about the very singer. Maybe one of our YT friends will help us make some good info about her?
Looking at the record's data I see the name of Ivan Turgeniev - one of Giants of XIX century Russian literature - as the author of the song's text. Well.. in Paris of 1920s, Russian counts used to be the cab drivers. Why weren't this one of the greatest prosaics of XIXth century European literature the lyricist for Dzaparidze's romance?
This song's title: "Uto Tumannoie" means in English "the misty morning" as well as "the uncertain tomorrow". That ambiguity ot...

Battlefield I: "The Battle for Russia" (1/12)
The Eastern Front of World War II was a theatre of war between the German Reich and the Soviet Union which encompassed central and eastern Europe from June 22, 1941 to May 9, 1945. It was the largest theatre of war in history and was notorious for its unprecedented ferocity, destruction, and immense loss of life. It bore the bulk of the Holocaust, and stands unparalleled in terms of the volume of scholarly analysis and cultural depictions it generated. With over 30 million dead, many of them civilians, the Eastern Front has been called a war of extermination. It resulted in the destruction of the Third Reich, the partition of Germany and the rise of the Soviet Union as a military and industrial superpower.
