This article by Barone is certainly one of the worst pieces of nonsensical drivel I have ever read. Usually I credit his writing with more intelligence than was on display in this piece.
Here are three very good sites to find out what the US Media is NOT TELLING US.
Be prepared!..some of what you will find out that is going on is truly frightening.
WWW.AntiWar.com; WWW.Globalresearch.ca; and WWW.Geostrategymap.com.

About this Georgia mess...Georgia's insane US backed president started this catastrophe by attacking and killing Ossettians without warning in the dead of night. It constitutes a war crime. The population was all civilian except for the Russian soldier peacekeepers who were gunned down by their Georgian peace keeping comrades. The US government has blood all over its hands from this crime committed by little Georgie Bush's buddy and cohort in ethnic cleansing. Then Bush has the hypocracy to call Russia's response a crime.
Bush is the closest thing to Adolph Hitler the World has seen in many years. He is a danger to all of us. John McCainiac is no better.
Let us pray that America can last until we remove this criminal administration from power before they start a World War for their corporate friends.

Now I don't want to judge too quickly here but it certainly seems to me that the writer of this column is one of those who seem to believe that perhaps we (the West) should fight a "NUKULAR WAR" for the benefit of Georgia and its insane president.
I gather he feels that the killing of 2000 or so ethnic Russians and instability on Russia's border is none of Russia's business. Instead it is of vital American national security interests. After all America is the ONLY country in the entire World with vital national security interests. Every time some native in Borneo stumbles and falls it affects American interests of one sort or another.
Of course I'm being absurd here but those who comment lightly about getting involved in hostilities with Russia over one of its own neighbors had better think carefully.
I would suggest doing some research on the affects to a city of what a "one megaton" warhead can do. That is the average range of war fighting nukes these days. One of these can really ruin your entire day if you live close by.
The Bush Administration (if you can call it administration) is taking some terribly dangerous chances in the way it is provoking Russia. We are literally playing with fire on their border.
Pray that we survive long enough to get them out of office.

It is good although I too miss the original 1913intel, and Ive been trying to help him keep it full and current with relevant Geopolitical Analysis and hard hitting news submissions. I trust that he will find the time to continue his work with the original dedication.

I tried voting on articles and every time I do it brings me to the login screen. I login (and the screen at the top has a button for logout) but as soon as I go back to the main screen I am logged out (I see the login button) and can't vote.

I'm using Firefox but anything half decent should be supporting that by now. Anyone else experiencing this?

RE: "I knew the first three years where go to be difficult, but I got burned out anyway." - I totally understand...

I'm the volunteer President of Father's Rights organization (www.fathersrightsne.com)and giving takes a lot out of a person; but the mystery is that we get more back.

When we know we're doing something that is making a difference, we have to do it no matter the cost. In my case, it may be my liberty, but I think Patrick Henry said it best. :)

Your site really is one of the best ones I've seen and I really would hate to see it go. Again, I would suggest you find out "who" and/or what is pressuring the site's resources?

You do not have to answer this question openly, but do you have the ability (or, your hosting provider) to determine where (country) and what type of traffic (protocol) is coming through?

Not knowing more specifics (i.e., how many "members" the site has, how many view on a daily basis, the upper and lower limit thresholds, what parameter is getting throttled (disk space, processor usage, bandwidth, etc...), I can't make a certain prognosis but if the limits are reasonable, I would start looking at unreasonable reasons as to why the site might *need* to be throttled.

So you are of the opinion that the goal of having Bush lead us into war in Iran has been scrapped? I started thinking that too about Iraq right before it started. We will know more soon I am sure and when Israels new president is "elected". What I meant about regional nuclear war i meant to say a regional nuclear holocaust is inevitable according to some Israel military leadership, with them bombing nuke plants now and releasing radioactivity, or later that Iran would surely inevitably nuke Israel and then receive retaliation. Even John McCain said the only thing worse than bombing Iran was not bombing Iran. This is all just saber rattling now? The way I was reading things is that a navel blockade was imminent for Iran and allout war by land and sea was probable within the next year.

Stone,

Neither America nor Israel will attack Iran. America doesn't want to, and Israel can't change the outcome enough. So Iran will be able to go nuclear in the future.

Regional nuclear war including Iran is not in the cards for some time, probably 10 years or more. Having one nuclear bomb does not exactly make you a nuclear power. It's going to take time for Iran to build more bombs and more missiles. Although, I'm guessing Iran won't build bombs for awhile. They'll be one screw short of completing the bomb(s).

Matt do you think Iran will still be bombed by Israel or USA? Will it be to take over oilfields and pipelines or do they truly believe that the nuclear program is for nuclear bombs that will be used preemptively against Israel and regional US bases so they are compelled to strike first while victory can come with acceptable losses? This kind of reasoning baffles and terrifies me. Do you think Russia will commit a military response? Do you think China may try taking back Taiwan in the commotion or engage in all out battle against the allies if they try holding Taiwan? And what about North Korea? They fear that the south wants to preemptively nuke them with US support right? I heard that the nuclear site they are dismantling is outdated and needed to be torn down anyways and that they have much more modern enrichment plants elsewhere. Is that true? Do you think that Iran will eventually resemble the standoff in Korea but with more fronts and both sides possessing nuclear arms or is the war that's been brewing there more imminent now than ever? Is the medias recent focus on possible reprisal with Iran a way to then switch to the military options when they later proclaim that a concerted effort at diplomacy has failed, or is Israel just going to be supplied and supported if they choose to attack preemptively and the US will settle on just surrounding Iran and playing the long game of infiltration? The scariest argument to me coming out of Israel is that they believe a regional nuclear war is inevitable so they figure they may as well start it before it supposedly starts anyways. And what is up with both USA and Russia having preemptive nuclear strike planning in there military doctrines? I think I felt safer when our fate hung in the balance of the effective stalemate of mutually assured destruction.

Perhaps a solution is converting this website to a PHP Slashdot clone. Then users can submit articles. I can also submit articles as I get time.

Let me do some investigating on a PHP Slashdot clone.

Similar situation at many blogs...

Not sure what Pipes/Feedblitz are but how about creating a 1913Intel account on one of the social bookmarking sites? You can just bookmark all the articles you want with one click and then let readers see your list, comment, etc.

It's also time for counter-intel blogs to start consolidating...there are too many disparate sites, many unknown, that could be consolidated into multi-author blogs with much higher readership...and hence possibility for ads to generate some revenue...just some thoughts as we're on the verge as well.

Hold on a sec there... This site is too important to close up so easy.

If you problems are time try...
1. Cutting the number of articles
2. Switch CMS / blog engines to one that allows your readers to submit stories similar to Slashdot.org.

If you are $$$ limited try...
1. Paypal tip jar on the front page. I donated the first $20 bucks for the research asst. I would be happy to kick in a few bucks every so often.
2. Paypal recurring "subscription" donation. Say 5 to 10 bucks a month.
3. Switch your advertising to a AdBright / Adsense daisy chain. I buy advertising every so often and would be happy to buy from you via Adbright.
4. Sell 125x125 ad spots via Openx.org or similar. You have a great nitch site and could do very well. See techcrunch.com for an example. $12,000 per month per 125x125 spot. Some sites do Adsense well other do better selling direct.

Drop me an email if I can do anything to help or if you are going to Disneyland again :) I'm a SoCal local.
