Worries are intensifying that Latvia’s financial crisis will spread to its Baltic Sea neighbors and to Eastern Europe, economists say.
The situation is revealing fragility at the edges of the European economy and reportedly has sparked fears that a currency crisis could spread to fellow Baltic nations Lithuania and Estonia.

Latvia Lists Russia as Major Threat to Its National Security

The Latvian National Security Council has included Russia in a list of major security threats to the Baltic state. As the RIA Novosti news agency reports, the agency places Russia’s threat alongside terrorism, drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
