Israel is always on high alert when it comes to the potential for war with its neighbors, particularly the two groups viewed as proxies of Iran and Syria: Hamas and Hezbollah. Though neither seems particularly eager for a full-blown conflict with Israel at present, defense analysts see a number of developments that could lead to [...]

Apparently, the war game doesn’t include the use of nuclear weapons by Israel to obliterate its neighbors.
Instead, Iran attacks Israel, both directly and through its proxies in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. It misinterprets U.S. actions as weakness and mines the Straits of Hormuz, the world’s chief oil artery. That sparks a clash and [...]

A regional war may well be approaching. The actions and statements of Iran and its Syrian, Lebanese and Palestinian proxies over the past week or so indicate that this is what Israel’s enemies are gunning for.
The latest developments are menacing. Last Saturday, Iran’s unelected president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threatened to open up a new round of [...]

Security analysts in Israel and America have warned of the potential high cost to be paid if Israel attacks Iran and say that such a strike would at best delay, rather than stamp out, Iran’s nuclear programme. The cost would be not only to Israel, whose cities are within range of Iranian missiles and which [...]

I consider Obama’s goal of a world without nuclear weapons to be extremely dangerous. This plan is beyond merely bad. It is going to get you and me killed.
We have the world’s greatest conventional army. Nuclear weapons are the great equalizer. Now why would other countries want to give that up?
Surely Russia will play [...]

Most ominous of all, however, is Israel’s steadily declining military edge over its enemies.
The Hamas rockets that have terrorized the population of southern Israel are harbingers of more horrific things to come. It is only a matter of time and political calculation before Iran provides its proxies in Gaza (Hamas) and Lebanon (Hezbollah) with the [...]

Over the past several months we have written quite a bit about the Russian resurgence. This discussion predates Russia’s military action in Georgia. Indeed, we have discussed the revival of Russian power since at least 2005, the implications of the FSB’s return since April and the potential return of the [...]
