According to George, the Iranian’s are telling us that it has options too. If we push too hard then the Iranians will start pushing back.
The Iranian missile tests are also hints about Iran’s ability to push back.
And so each waits, hoping the other side will back down. The events of the past week were designed [...]

Two major leaks occurred this weekend over the Iran matter.
In the first, The New York Times published an article reporting that staff at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the U.N. nuclear oversight group, had produced an unreleased report saying that Iran was much more advanced in its nuclear program than the IAEA [...]

The Russian Resurgence
U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s visit to Georgia and Ukraine partly answered questions over how U.S.-Russian talks went during U.S. President Barack Obama’s visit to Russia in early July. That Biden’s visit took place at all reaffirms the U.S. commitment to the principle that Russia does not have the [...]

I ran into some trouble concerning Stratfor. It seems I stumbled onto a members only report. Brian at Stratfor got pretty mad at me for posting it. I took it down because my policy is to always remove material if there is a complaint from the owner.
Let’s discuss Stratfor a little more. They provide a [...]

Stratfor gave itself an F for completely missing the subprime mortgage crisis. The biggest economic story since the great depression, and Stratfor completely missed it. Ouch!
I think Stratfor’s analysis of Russia is correct in that Russia is in a long-term decline. Short-term, however, anything goes. By short-term I mean the next 15 to 20 years.
Strafor’s [...]

Retribution for Mughniyah: A Dish Served Cold?
By Fred Burton and Scott Stewart
Feb. 12 will mark the one-year anniversary of the assassination of Imad Mughniyah, one of Hezbollah’s top military commanders. The anniversary certainly will be met with rejoicing in Tel Aviv and Washington — in addition to all the Israelis he killed, Mughniyah also had [...]

For the past year, Stratfor has been focusing on what we see as the critical global geopolitical picture. As the U.S.-jihadist war has developed, it has absorbed American military resources dramatically. It is overstated to say that the United States lacks the capacity to intervene anywhere else in the world, but it is [...]
